•TO HELP: Arizona Desert Dogs Rescue
http://www.arizonadesertdogs.com/The Arizona Desert Dogs was formed after learning a woman in Tonopah, Shirley Johnson, was trying to care for 101 dogs all by herself. The Valley's foreclosure crisis has resulted in many pet owners dumping their dogs in the desert, and many that aren't killed by wildlife or the elements end up at Johnson's rural property.
For the past six months the rescue group has been helping Johnson care for the dogs. It has adopted out more than half of the canines to homes in the Valley. Dozens of others are still being boarded in Phoenix, and 15 dogs still remain on Johnson's property.
