phew..17 yr old's MOTHER: "Representative Weiner NEVER tweeted her anything inappropriate"
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 08:55 AM by kpete
The girl's mother, whose name is being withheld, told The Post Wednesday that Weiner sent nothing obscene -- and sent only two brief messages to her daughter about seeing him during an April school trip to the Capitol.

The teen, who idolized Weiner, was "disappointed" in him after his confession.
The mom said she pointedly questioned her daughter about whether Weiner sent her anything obscene, and the girl swore it was all G-rated.

"I guess because he knew she was in high school," the mom said, though she added it was weird that Weiner would spend any time communicating directly with her daughter.
The mom did say her daughter wrote in one message, "I'm in love with you," but explained it away with, "She's 17."

5. Except he didn't love her, he liked her.
She had a crush on him, that's all. He had been to her school and joked about her wanting to be president when she grew up in one of those 'evil' DMs

I'm sure someone will be in here to tell us how we can't believe the mother, or the girl, or whatever.

For a democratic site it sure doesn't fell like it much anymore.

21. Whuh? There's nothing wrong with liking a 17 year old either or vice versa.
I don't know what you are suggesting but what I am suggesting is that Tony Weiner could have made it past 1st base and still not have broken any laws that I am aware of.

9. What do you mean by that? This mother was aware that her
daughter was being harassed by Breitbart's goons. She was very involved in what was going on.

I hope they are going to investigate those goons now, if they can find the coward who was so tough online but is now in hiding.

The wrong person was accused by people here regarding that girl. The police I hope are now investigating the abuses of Breitbarts thugs.

Btw, do you usually go around accusing mothers of allowing their daughters to be abused without knowing anything at all about them?

Did you know that friends who are close to the family who I think know that mother better than you, believes they are correct?

No wonder good people do not want to run for public office anymore. Any anonymous poster on the internet can spew lies and innuendos about you without even thinking.

12. From what I've read, the family had software that tracked
online activity and text. That doesn't sound naive to me. ;)

28. Yep, the real question is who called the police and how were Murdoch's news crews there 1st
And what you posted is the direction I've been thinking in malaise.

Been looking at articles which include the info about how Murdoch's crews were already on-scene and which address who contacted the police. Clearly, the news crews were in place for the story (they created) to develop. And clearly the family did not call the police so someone tipped off the police and the police complied and investigated. The question is who did that. And I'm guessing the answer is indicated in your post.

Philadelphia news vans and a New York Post photographer were among the news media stationed outside the teen’s house trying to get an interview. No one answered the door Friday night. Someone inside the house could be seen looking out the windows, and the lights went out shortly after 11 p.m.

Police then responded to the scene after a shirtless man wielding an ax began pacing up and down the street outside the girl’s home. The man, who claimed to be a teacher, was led away in handcuffs.

The girl’s interview by police in Delaware was first reported by
FoxNews.com, which had a reporter at the home when police arrived.

The New York Democrat issued his statement after FoxNews.com reported Friday that officers had interviewed the high school junior at her family's home north of Wilmington.

"They were made aware of an alleged contact between Congressman Anthony Weiner and an area teen," said Officer Tracey Duffy, a New Castle County police spokeswoman. "The teen has been interviewed and disclosed no information regarding any criminal activity."

Duffy said she doesn't know what led to the questioning of the girl or whether the family had called police.

"I don't know what information they received that would prompt them to respond to this residence," she said.

22. Well, apparently the mom had software, according to two people
in this thread, that tracked her daughter's online activity. So it appears she didn't have to just rely on what her daughter said. Lots of parents take that precaution these days.

23. Ok, I didn't see that. I only read the article.

That's better than I thought.

I have to admit. Given Weiner's predilection to for online sex games and the girls declarations of love, I was (and still am) a little worried that some grooming was happening.

27. Doesn't seem that way at all from what we know.
He only DM'd her a few times, mostly in return for hers and that's pretty standard for twitter, nothing at all unusual about it. Both he and she and the mom confirm what was in the DMs and I'm sure the police will be able to verify it.

He seems to have a normal, male interest in sex, not in perverted sex with minors and he knew how old she was, teased her in one of the DMs about becoming president when she grows up.

Having said all that, nothing would surprise me anymore, but otoh, absent any evidence that anything other than what all parties involved are saying, I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.

If it turns out there's absolutely nothing to this it's going to make them very sad. And usually they're the ones demanding we support a Democrat no matter what policy the person pushes. Weird.

to judge from her Facebook and Twitter posts.

But I'm glad everyone's having such a good time slamming a man that's been one of our strongest voices.
