Focus on his "weiner"
My better half and I were discussing why he would do this.
Why he would risk everything sending these pictures.
Why he focused on his...well..."weiner".

Then it occurred to us.
Think of all the torment growing up.
Every time roll call at school was called.
The sheer torture little Anthony had to endure with a last name like that.

The horror of childhood has now exponentially manifested in the wide spread public arena and it is as if his own childhood trauma forced him subconsciously into this action, like a moth to a flame.
In no way does our hypothesis excuse him for his behavior as an adult however maybe there is a deep psychological "tick" in Mr. Weiner as a result of his last name.

As a sidenote: Why would his (or any) parent not change their last name to avoid the obvious torment of their children?

2. He should have changed his name to Ronald Weiner
It's an old joke...Did you hear about Sidney Lipschitz?

Anyway, he has a much more serious problem than his name.

3. Why should someone change his or her name over the
juvenile behavior of others? Beavis and Butthead are cartoon characters. If real people act like cartoon characters, the joke's on them.

People's family names are part of their heritage, not something that needs to be changed based on the reaction of idiots.

4. How do children defend themselves?
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 08:57 AM by SHRED

When your second grader comes home in tears you can always explain, "We have a family heritage to uphold"??

Placing "heritage" over your child's well being is foolish in my opinion.

6. You know, it's not all that bad out there. And teaching the child
his or her heritage is very important in such cases. Changing your name to suit the fancies of morons is more destructive than teaching a child to have respect for his or her own name.

Nothing wrong with the name of Weiner. It just means someone from Vienna, actually. Wieners are sausages, too. The human penis is called a Wiener because of its similarity in appearance to a sausage. It's all just language. If you give in to the morons, you lose respect for yourself. Teach the child to ignore idiots and you've done a great job of parenting.

7. I get your point

I would change my name for my child's sake however.
There are so many other teachable moments rather than that kind of extreme humiliation and potential irreversible damage from a peer group.
Kids can and are vicious, especially in packs.
A name is avoidable.

Nah.
If he is truly acting out as an adult due to teasing and his last name maybe he should not be a congressman.

5. I grew up being called "Dick" by everyone who knew me.
That's because my middle name is Richard, and because I'm a junior, I went by my middle name until adulthood, when it was more convenient to use my first name. So, "Dick" was the normal nickname for Richards in the 50s and 60s when I was a kid. Did I get teased about it? Sure, once in a while. Did it bother me? No. I was Dick. That was my name, and had nothing to do with any body part that might sometimes be called the same thing.

My Mom still calls me Dick, as do some of the people I grew up with. I answer to that, or Richard, or George, which is my first name. Whatever...

8. Maybe the last name explains a bit about Michael "Savage"
Maybe his psycho anger comes from a place of torment?

9. the name is probably why he is so scrappy
and able to withstand the media onslaught. His "perversion" is a very common one. A great many men have personal photos to send to interested women and those women send pics of breasts right back.Foolish, yes. But I would love it if he takes down Thomas. No one else has the guts. I suspect his willingness to knock off crooks in our system is why he is not loved by democrats. He doesn't "play the game" like the majority of dem members in congress. It is why the Repugnants hate him.

Anyone who calls his actions perverted is living in the dark. Just google porn and see how many sites there are and I assure it is not women going to those sites. Dating sites where people go to flirt , many with x-rated profile pics. The majority do not ever meet or ever planned to meet. It is thrill seeking, and the safest sex or voyeurism a married man can enjoy. Weiner was an idiot to not seek anonymity, but his behavior is common, not perverted.
