Mother of 17 year old says: "Representative Weiner NEVER tweeted her anything inappropriate ..."
Excerpt:

SNIP

The mother, whose name is being withheld, told The Post Wednesday that Weiner sent nothing obscene — and only sent two brief messages to her daughter about seeing him during an April school trip to the Capitol.

The teen, who idolized Weiner, was "disappointed" in him after his confession.

The mom said she pointedly questioned her daughter about whether Weiner sent her anything obscene, and the girl swore it was all G-rated. "I guess because he knew she was in high school," the mom said, though she added it was weird Weiner would spend any time communicating directly with her daughter.

The mom did say her daughter wrote in one message, "I’m in love with you," but explained it away with, "She’s 17." "None of us will be getting our 15 minutes of fame because of this nonsense," the mom said. "Representative Weiner never tweeted her anything inappropriate .¤.¤. That is the answer, honestly."

1. The NY times said there were 5 messages from Weiner to a girl, not 2.

Maybe the articles are talking about two different girls.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/11/nyregion/weiner-says-he-sent-private-messages-to-girl-17.html

MESSAGE ONE:

Two days later, Mr. Weiner began following her on Twitter. On her profile, she says she aspires to be president. In a private message he sent to her, he said: “How hip am I talking to a future president.”

MESSAGE TWO:

According to the girl’s family member, people in the group also copied the girl on some of the messages they sent to him, so she sent Mr. Weiner a private message telling him that she felt she was being harassed. He apologized to her in a private message, and removed her from the list of people he followed on Twitter.

MESSAGES THREE - FIVE:

The girl responded to the appeal and posted a public message to him: “Don’t forget me. I used to follow you.” On May 16, he began following the girl again, and over the next 10 days they had three private message exchanges, the family member said.

In a blog post on Tumblr, she later shared the contents of that private message from him. In it, Mr. Weiner appeared to liken himself to a superhero. “I came back strong,” he wrote. “Large. Tights and cape. ...”

2. NICE TRY.
Suddenly we have two minors. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Good effort. Give yourself an A. Or a bonus.

I see you left out the paragraph where the police went over her computer and couldn't find a fucking thing that might indicate a crime.

3. Now Weiner's acknowledging "at least 5 messages."
Edited on Sat Jun-11-11 03:27 AM by pnwmom
Strange that the parents only knew about two of them (according to the link at the OP).

I have no idea what you mean by this: "I see you left out the paragraph where the police went over her computer and couldn't find a fucking thing that might indicate a crime." Such a paragraph doesn't exist. And according to the Post, the probe is continuing. Nice try.

Luckily for Weiner, if the girl received texts on her phone there very well may be no trace of them, depending on the phone and the server. Same with instant messages on the computer.

NEW YORK — Rep. Anthony Weiner confirmed Friday that he had exchanged at least five private messages on Twitter this spring with a 17-year-old Delaware girl who became an admirer of his after hearing him speak during a high school trip to Washington.

4. And you have manufactured a morals charge on NO EVIDENCE!!!
Damn, you continue to impress me. The biggest fun is the way you call Weiner a liar.

What is slander if not lying?

5. What is strange about it? The police have already confirmed
that there was nothing found that was inappropriate. And they saw the contents on her computer.

What really is strange, is that earlier in this saga, Breitbart's thugs, one of whom has spent time in jail, were fiercely harassing his followers, as noted in the Times, although they certainly have made it seem a lot less serious than it was. The mothers of those girls complained about it and airc, deleted their accounts.

They did not know that one of the harassers was accused of wife abuse, had spent time in jail and according to his own statement in an interview last week, had 'other legal problems'. He said last week that he was 'worried that some of what he had done to 'get weiner' might cause him to have more legal problems.

Added to this reprehensible scenario is the fact that we know that these thugs were in contact with Daryl Issa's office, keeping his aide apprised or their 'progress'.

Since Issa's office knew that they were harassing young girls and did nothing to stop it, I would say that they are far more responsible for the harassment of young girls than Weiner ever was.

I will wait to see if the media interviews Issa and asks why he was interested in a hate campaign against another member of Congress that involved scaring young high-school students so badly they had to hide for a while.

If the media wants to find 'lewd' comments made to those girls, they can find them online still before they disappear. To imply to those girls that Weiner was having sex with them and a 'porn star' is reprehensible.

And they have not quit obviously. Since it looks like Weiner has not been adveresly affected in the public's view, who are always far more sensible about these political witch hunts than online forums, it seems they called the police today. Fox, Drudge and the Post had a heads up so to take a wild guess I'd bet on Breitbart and his crew again.

Some day, and I hope it's before it's too late, the Democrats will develop some spine and stop cooperating with these criminals as they target one democrat after another. They are dangerous people.

I have heard that Breitbart's next targets are Sen. Al Franken and Sanders, and considering their record so far, with the help of the spineless Democrats, my guess is they will succeed again.

I will never assist Breitbart/Issa/O'Keefe and their long list of far rightwing racist funders to destroy any Democrat.

What Weiner did was nothing in comparison to what these despicable, treasonous and well funded thugs have done and will do if someone does not stop them

7. The police said that the girl and her mother had "not disclosed"
any criminal wrongdoing. There has obviously not been time to examine the computer and the phone. The probe is continuing, according to the Post.

Why don't we wait and see what happens? I expect there will be more from the Weiner story, you don't. But neither of us knows.

12. I do think there will be more to this story, but not about Weiner.
I know you really want him to be guilty of a crime. So did Breitbart and friends, that's obvious, but the girl's mother and others close to the family have made it clear that there was nothing inappropriate.

It's interesting that those of you who would like to see him accused of a serious crime, have zero interest in who was actually harassing those young girls.

It is not news that they were so frightened, their families complained and they basically had to go into hiding. That is known, and it's also known that Issa's office was aware of all these activities. But HIS office has refused to comment on the role they played in harassing young girls.

And it is known that one of those harassing them was an ex-con. The fact is the parents knew what was going on because the girls trusted them enough to tell them, and they never had a problem with Weiner, so why are trying to change the facts?

You really are reaching. The police went to investigate a report, probably a call made by Breitbart to get exactly the effect you are giving them. Naturally they asked the parents if there was any problem, the parents did not 'disclose' any problems. And you are reading something into that. Police always talk that way.

Each time a false story appears, you are happy, then when it falls apart, you can't accept that and try to cling to the original lies. Why? What did Weiner ever do that would make you wish so much harm on him and his family? I don't understand it. I would not and did not wish even on Republicans.

Their friends say if there were problems, those parents would have reported it at the time. Are you accusing the parents now too, of enabling abuse of their daughter? That's a pretty serious allegation to make against parents who from all accounts were very informed and aware of what their daughter was doing.

That poor family. The slander they will have to put up with from the far right and now from Democrats? What is your problem with Weiner? He had perfectly legal cyber sex. He was being stalked by some of the lowest, most despicable people in this country today for months. They were making things up, their emails are available and it's clear they, like you apparently, wanted him to commit a crime.

What a horrible world this is, really. So much hatred in it. So little humanity.

I am pretty confident that this police episode was another Breitbart stunt. And I'm glad that someone is trying to investigate Issa's involvement in all this.

11. Agree. The way for them not to win is for Weiner NOT to resign.
He should hang in. He's admitted his behavior was inappropriate and stupid, but virtual exhibitionism is not illegal. All outspoken Dems need to know that any one of them could be next on the hit parade. As we saw with Acorn, Shirley Sherrod, Planned Parenthood, etc. it doesn't matter whether there's fire like in Weiner's situation, or it's all smoke. This is much bigger than just Anthony Weiner. They are trying to destroy Democrats and progressive organizations. If Democrats don't at least try to stop them, who will?

8. "Exchanging
five private messages" could mean that she sent 3 and he sent 2, which makes sense.

9. And even
if it were five from each, that's hardly enough to have a sexy convo. Especially when we know that some of it was her complaining of harrassment from Breitbart's gang. He probably had lots of nonsexy exchanges with various Twitter followers/followees.

10. Mark Foley
said on Hannity that it should be legal to sext minors. I don't see the media jumping on THAT.
