They were bothered by Starr's (and by extension the Republicans') salacious excess, and as a result they began to rally around Clinton.

Breitbart's deliberate showing of the naked penis picture to anyone and everyone, until it was finally leaked after he showed it to a couple of radio shock jocks, lets the air out of any claim he might have made to morality or decency.

If FOX, Breitbart, et al., really start hounding this child, the it will come back to bite them on the a**. But for Republicans it is like an addicition: they simply cannot stop at enough. If they could, they would score all the possible points without suffering any backlash. But they can never stop themselves from going too far, and then going even beyond than that.
