'Human Barbie' Sarah Burge Gives 7-Year-Old Daughter Breast Implant Voucher
Step aside, Botox Mom. There's another candidate for parenting award of the year.

"Human Barbie" Sarah Burge gave her daughter Poppy a $10,000 voucher for breast augmentation surgery for her seventh birthday, UK tabloid Closer reports.

Sarah explained, "Poppy begged me for a boob job, so I gave her the voucher so she can have it after she's 16, when it's legal. If she develops naturally big boobs, she can have something else done with it." Sounds like a reasonable, open-ended gift. Poppy, for her part, said, "I can't wait to be like Mummy with big boobs. They're pretty."

Poppy also received a computer, pink Swarovski crystal ring and matching necklace and a spa weekend from her mother.

The 50-year-old has supposedly dropped more than $800,000 on her own plastic surgeries and plans to have her daughter watch her next series of treatments, slated for later this year. Burge remarked, "I want Poppy to see what will happen. Some people think it's controversial and I get angry when strangers say I'm a bad mother because I don't think there's any harm in giving her this gift."

3. these are the messages we send our girls. uggh. i tell my girls they are beautiful and smart
and encourage their interests. my oldest loves reading and wants to be a volcanologist. my middle child loves maps. my almost 2 year old loves to say 'go away' and 'let's go abby'. but I encourage them and let them play dress up when they want and do their nails if they want but don't highlight that either... . it's part of everything else.... what this woman does.... uggh. that poor girl. she wants so much to please her mom. and be like her mom.

5. And I felt weird taking my 8 yr old for her first manicure -
Truth be told I always did my nails myself and entered a spa for the first time when I was in my early 30's. I so enjoyed getting a manicure/pedicure that I have them done regularly now (well somewhat regularly - a few times a year). But I felt a little strange taking my 8 yr old because she's such a tomboy. She seemed to like it, but I'll only take her again if she asks - I don't want to push anything on her.

The mother in the OP has some serious issues ...

9. Does she have a father in the house to put a stop to this shit?
Edited on Thu Jun-09-11 08:48 PM by bluestateguy
It sounds like this so-called mother is more interested in being a girlfriend than a mother.

A strong father is needed in the house too to chase off all of the horned out 16 year old boys that will come looking for only one thing from this girl.

Despicable.

23. Yeah, that's what's wrong here. No man swinging his balls around ploying "tough guy."
I think there's plenty of dysfunction to deal with as is, without adding a person who thinks his genitalia have special powers.

22. Who cares?
When the kid is 16, she'll have an option to do something with/to her body, legally. Her body, her choice. Just like her mum.

The outrage here is just...silly.

24. The mother said it didn't have to be used on breasts.
It could be used on whatever. That could include any kind of corrective eye surgery if needed or cosmetic dental.

Not the best present for a young child but there's always worse. Sometimes I wonder about the outrage here on GD.

31. I think it's the idea of telling a child, essentially, "You won't be pretty without this."
And based on the child's comments, she's into it hook, line and sinker.

26. No need for outrage...
By the time she hits 16, she might decide she needs straight teeth more than bigger boobs, or she might grow large ones naturally and not even WANT breast augmentation.

Or she might use it to get mommy a magenta-lipstick-ectomy to remove the hideous products from her makeup case, which is a more urgent need than cosmetic surgery for the daughter. You're in trouble when your 7-year-old's makeup looks better than yours.

By the time she's sixteen, she's really going to need it with a sicko parent like this.

28. if the mom has spent $800K on surgery to make herself look better
She must have been, like, a manatee before. That was not money well spent. I mean, she looks fine and all, but not $800K of fine. When I think of what that $800K could have done for people who are poor or in pain or hungry.... No, we can't individually save the world, but those priorities are just sad.

Which leads me to suppose, without having ever met this woman so I realize my insights are only as deep as my knowledge of her, that she is a profoundly unhappy and insecure woman who is fearful about aging and her future and is suffering very much, and for that, I feel a lot of compassion for her. And I hope that she will make better decisions in the future.

29. Gross.
It's one thing to get plastic surgery yourself, but to buy a voucher for a 7-year-old is just vile.

I have a 7-year-old daughter, too. She's a competitive gymnast & beautiful just the way she is. My 9-year-old daughter (also beautiful, in my unbiased opinion!) wants to be an astronomer. And I agree with the earlier poster who said Mummy looks like a drag queen. I feel sorry for both of these 2 sad people.
