1. No conflict here, imo. Its up to his constituents, and they vote every 2 years,

15. Unless he broke the rules. I have to say I'm angry cause he took a whole week and didn't
get all his ducks in a row. He had a WEEK to figure out if he used office phones and track down who he sent pix to etc and how old they actually are.

4. I no longer care whether he stays or goes. His effectiveness as a spokesperson
is done.

5. I think a year from now
Only partisans will care. I still think he has a career as a fighter. :)

6. I'd like to believe that, but I don't. This is the third day in a row of Weiner
abjectly apologizing. He's not the fighter he presented himself as.

7. Law #11 of /The 48 Laws of Power/ is "Use the surrender tactic: transform weakness into power".

8. I think some people are better at fighting for others than themselves
I could never be a congressperson by what I have posted on DU alone.
I don't think it makes him any less of a person or a man,It just makes him a bad husband.
I still believe that his heart is in the right place politically and I would probably lie in his situation as well.
Washington is full of far worse lies than denial of sending out a penis picture.

9. Why aren't Dems saying that Weiner should resign when
Vitter does?

10. I don't think he should resign, but he won't be a leader in any efforts now.
So he's effectively neutered himself in Congress.

11. If he wants to maintain any viability as a future candidate..?
and if he wants to protect the District for the Democrats, he would resign.

Or he could say that he did nothing wrong, it was a private matter, and that he is going to fight for his seat, and maybe go down in flames. His career is over and we have no idea how much damage it will do to the Democratic Party. Just my opinion.
