1. Wow, and I bet you thought you lived in a perfect world where all things were consistent?
Welcome to reality and planet Earth.

7. I thought we lived in a coutnry, not a perfect one by any means,
but one that respected the rule of law, where 'no one is above the law'.

Now, I know there are people in this country who can order the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of innocent human beings and torture many more and they will be protected, and worse, protected by the people I thought who were elected to bring back the rule of law.

It is a puritanical society where sex is veiwed as shameful and there is more punishment for engaging in sexual activities, than there is for the masss murder of innocents.

No one is asking for perfection, just some common sense.

13. I don't see how anyone thinks we can be in all these wars and not do a lot of bad things.
Investigating incidents is probably nothing compared to the entire scope of what goes on. The hypocrisy is in thinking war can be clean.

16. Point by point...
"I don't see how anyone thinks we can be in all these wars and not do a lot of bad things."

Maybe we shouldn't be in them.

"Investigating incidents is probably nothing compared to the entire scope of what goes on."

The wars themselves are illegal, and the politicians who wage them should be imprisoned. That's the scope of what's going on. Not to say that individual incidents should not also be investigated.

"The hypocrisy is in thinking war can be clean."

Why not? If we were waging necessary, just, and legal wars, if we put the politicians in jail who do otherwise, then investigated those incidents you mentioned and put the people who committed those acts in jail, then we would theoretically have a "clean" war. But you can't even start having a "clean" war until you have a necessary war in the first place.

17. Well most people here are against the wars as am I.
So investigating incidents seems so small picture to me. We need to get out period. That is my underlying point.

5. And yet Breitbart sez he has to get around liberal media bias.
:eyes:

He must be working harder than he really has to -- to make it look good, I suppose. It's part of the right-wing's victim mentality, and they actually believe it to be true.

I don't "get" why the two dissimilar things are connected in a thread.

8. The best thing to happen in this country would be for both Weiner and Vitter to resign together...
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 11:12 PM by cascadiance
Just go up and take a stand and say that they feel that their behavior isn't something they want the media to focus on any more and that the voters are owed someone that doesn't have to lie about their personal life and can stay focused on making this country a better place.

Unfortunately, I don't think Vitter will do it.

11. Why should he resign? So far as we know he did nothing illegal.
Edited on Tue Jun-07-11 11:18 PM by sabrina 1
He engaged in sexual activity which no one would even know about had a well-funded, lowlife, scumbag and his minions not spent their creepy lives for the past several months, spying on and prying into the personal life a US Congressman. Why is that not illegal since it involved the harassment of several other innocent people also?

Is sex shameful? In this puritanical society apparently it is, which is why when caught, people initially lie about it. How about we stop viewing the sexual activities of adults as shameful? If that were the case, Breitbart and his minions would have had to occupy themselves looking for something else to pin on Democrats and no one would feel the need to lie about it, except maybe, to their spouses.

Talk about much ado about nothing! :eyes:

18. not true. there were protests with hundreds of thousand protesting the war.... when torture
came out it was a hot story. i bet if you did a poll you would find everyone wanting torture to stop over weiner stuff.

because today, right now, this minute, you dont have all the protests about the war and torture might have something to do with almost a decade of this going on. are the number of calls for prosecution expected to exceed all news every day until the war stops?

24. Bush & Cheney had how many DUIs between them? And no one was calling for their resignation.
Drive drunk or show my penis (while wearing underwear) on the internet? Honestly, wtf?

Keep in mind that three days before the 2000 election, Dubya's 1976 DUI came to light. That bastard got selected President.

Sick society, indeed.
