1. Can't do it without an amendment.
The Post Office is specifically called for in the Constitution.

11. I'm sure Sarah will correct him.
She's all about the Constitution and our histories and understanding where we came from and freedoms and liberties and such.

16. Does it specify that it must be run by the government? Because he
wants a postal system which is privatized.

18. Wrong
The constitution gives congress the authority to create a post office. It does not say they must create it nor does it say it must be govt run.

2. from the article
"He also called for the elimination of the U.S. Postal Service, the Government Printing Office, Amtrak, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

What does the private sector charge for sending a letter? 4, 5 bucks?

5. these fuckers try to out-whacky each other and the press says nothing
not a fucking thing.
Actually as i was telling my kids the other day, this reminds me of the old racist southern politicians who used to say the most vile things about race to get elected.
Now it is about gays, women and anything government.

Do away with the post office and we have to use Fed Ex, UPS or some other carrier.

8. the "Google Test"
<snip>
Pawlenty later called for what he termed "The Google Test," and said that if the American people "can find a good or service on the Internet, then the federal government probably doesn’t need to be doing it."
<snip>

Guess we can get rid of the police, since private security firms are available on the internet.

We can probably disband the US military as well, and just hire out Blackwater whenever we need to.

10. What an incredible deal the post office is
six days a week they COME TO MY HOUSE to bring me stuff sent by other people. Yes, lots of time its junk mail but often it is something nice.

I know people complain but I can count on one hand the number of mis directed stuff over the years.

And here it comes fast....two days on average. Netflix is even faster!

i hope those idiots don't destroy it
