SEOUL--North Korea has asked U.S. envoy Robert King to provide large-scale food assistance, saying it will accept all conditions Washington has set for such aid.
Kim Kye Gwan, first vice foreign minister, told King that North Korea will take steps to prevent misappropriation and meet other conditions, sources close to the six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program said.
King, U.S. special envoy for North Korean human rights issues, met Kim when he visited North Korea at the end of May.
South Korea is believed to have informally asked the United States to limit food aid to North Korea.
