Sarah Palin actually told her kids that her campaign bus tour was a VACATION??
Washington Post:

“Thanks for ruining our vacation.”

— Piper Palin, 10, to a Time photographer, part of the media scrum following Sarah Palin’s is-it-an-exploratory-campaign-or-what PAC-financed bus tour along the East Coast.

Someone needs to explain to the Palin kids that they come in a distant second to mommy's ego (even when they're hours away from being born).

1. And maybe someone should explain what family road trips normally look like?

2. that's pitiful
Palin should not pretend to her own daughter that this is a vacation - honestly, how many folks take vacations with stops to give speeches before backdrops to be used in future campaigns and p.r. to promote herself?

that's not a vacation, Piper. That's your momma lying to you. Just like she lies to the rest of this nation.

I feel sorry for this kid.

3. Family vacation = Gulfstream jet following the Koch painted bus.
Piper: Head of security (media intervention squad).

Makes me proud to be a murkin. :patriot:

4. The bus isn't painted. It's a vinyl wrap graphic. On a Nascar car it costs $10, 000 on a bus, maybe
Three times that. But since Palin's secret backers are paying for it...it's free.

7. Based solely on what a 10 year old said to someone, we cannot say
with any accuracy what Sarah Palin 'actually' told her kids about the current trip/tour/bus ride.

12. She jobbed out his upbringing to someone else

Willow was taken out of school for behavioral problems and is being "home-schooled" by a series of tutors. She's not on the trip, and is living without parental supervision.

Track has had the good sense to GTFO.

And, if you think about this poor girl Piper, she's being trucked around on this tour, just like she was dragged around on the campaign trail. No relationships with friends and playmates, always having to be in the spotlight, not even knowing where she's going to sleep from one night to the next.

Lots of politicians and celebrities manage to raise children as normally as possible, under difficult circumstances. Palin is so amazingly self-centered that she just doesn't give a damn.

Out of the Kennedies, Johnsons, Carters, Nixons, Clintons, Bushes and Obamas, they all did creditable jobs of managing to deal with the problem of being politician parents. I'd give the Bushes and Obamas the highest marks in that department. The Bush girls didn't want to be part of a political circus, and their parents respected that decision. While there will always be tut-tutting about teenage behavior - Chip Carter sneaking out to get high away from the Secret Service, the Bush girls drinking, and so on - collectively, the kids of all of those families went on to grow up, get educations and pursue their own careers independent, to the extent possible, of being "famous" by association with their parents. None of them, as far as I can remember, yanked their kids out of school for extended periods of nonsense to be used as props in a road show.

16. Perhaps she told the children not with her that she was going on vacation?
Why the big deal about the plural :)

18. Well if she's calling it a "family vacation" then you might expect...
Edited on Fri Jun-03-11 05:38 PM by jberryhill
...that such a thing would include perhaps a majority of the family.

Or even a quorum.

10. You wouldn't expect her to tell the truth now would you?
That would just seem wrong.

Hey kids, we are going on a safari to find exotic plants from the tropics!

(i.e. we are going to the supermarket to pick up some bananas)
