Down memory lane ladies -or not: Harlequin Novel, Updated.... 2011 Version
"He grasped me firmly, but gently, just above my elbow and guided me into a room, his room. Then he quietly shut the door and we were alone. He approached me soundlessly, from behind, and spoke in a low, reassuring voice close to my ear.

"Just relax."

Without warning, he reached down and I felt his strong, calloused hands start at my ankles, gently probing, and moving upward along my calves, slowly but steadily. My breath caught in my throat. I knew I should be afraid, but somehow I didn't care. His touch was so experienced, so sure. When his hands moved up onto my thighs, I gave a slight shudder, and partly closed my eyes. My pulse was pounding. I felt his knowing fingers caress my abdomen, my ribcage.

And then, as he cupped my firm, full breasts in his hands, I inhaled sharply. Probing, searching, knowing what he wanted, he brought his hands to my shoulders, slid them down my tingling spine and into my panties. Although I knew nothing about this man, I felt oddly trusting and expectant.

This is a man, I thought. A man used to taking charge. A man not used to taking 'No' for an answer. A man who would tell me what he wanted. A man who would look into my soul and say . . . .scroll down

"Okay ma'am, you can board your flight now."

4. LOL
I never read Harlequin but I sure read gazillions of Mills & Boons as a teenager. I read anything in sight and could read three M & G a day in the summer.

the Harlequin novels in stock. The minute a new one came out, they flew off the shelves. I never knew until then how many horny middle aged and elderly women were out there.

btw Your friend is very clever.

7. Hey, I write them
I don't write the full-length books for Harlequin, but I have done three erotic romance short stories for them.

10. Fantastic. Actually the writing is really good in a lot of them
because established writers like you do them for some extra cash.

15. You're sweet
I'm not all that established. :)

You're right about the writing. Romance writing runs the gamut from laughable to really, really good. You just have to find authors you like.

17. I have a friend who writes them
and her books sell by the thousands. She does the ones that actually have a plot -- mystery, suspense, etc. mixed in with the romance. I've read a couple and they're actually pretty good.

Anyway, she says these books are released monthly and there's a very dedicated fan base. Women who walk into the store and grab every one they find for that month. She says it's the best day job she's ever had. She writes them in a couple weeks and makes in the neighborhood of twenty grand a book.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

18. A real blast from the past.
As teens, my sister stacked midway two walls of those books in our bedroom. Back then, if I didn't like a book I'd throw it onto her stacks. It used to drive her crazy. I have to send this to her.

Thanks, Malaise.

KnR for fun memories.
