Monopoly lost: Atlantic City's rise and fall

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110531/ap_on_re_us/us_reshuffling_atlantic_city?bouchon=501,ny

Read this AP article by Wayne Parry quickly --

but noticed NO discussion of what it costs communities to have economies based on gambling

which puts profit into the hands of those like Trump -- at odds which favor the house by 75% --

and takes money out of communities and away from other services, goods from which the

communities and small business profit and create jobs.

Now what? Atlantic City tries to go back to being a vacation attraction?

And will it be a ghost town before that happens again?

Will we be bailing out the likes of Trump who has filed for bankruptcy quite a few times already?

1. The beach there is absolutely gorgeous. The Hilton casino has a snack bar on
the second floor that overlooks the beach, and you see the waves come in, and it's beautiful. That alone is worth the trip on a nice summer weekend.

But unfortunately for AC, the East Coast has lots of beaches that are nice.

They could probably turn things around if they started giving money away...?
