Accept the fact that the American Empire is over
Edited on Wed Jun-01-11 11:56 AM by Cyrano
The only reason we are not yet referred to as a banana republic is because we have the most powerful military capabilities in the world. Take that away, and we have fallen far down the list of traits by which the quality of a civilization is measured.

As Paul Krugman has been screaming about for the past couple of years, the number one issue that should concern us is jobs. But no one in power is paying attention to him. And here's the reason. The vultures in Washington and on Wall street know that the American Empire is done and they're feeding on our bones. And when they're done, they'll move on to the next place in the world that becomes road kill.

I know how depressing this sounds. And I'd really like someone to prove me wrong. Someone? Anyone?

1. We can still snuff people we don't like
So we got that goin' for us. And there are huge majorities of our people who will endorse such executions. If that ain't imperial, ain't nothin' imperial, man.

now all i'd like to know is from which airport will their private jets depart for their private islands? i want to get their first to sabotage a few engines. if they've doomed us to a slow death, they have to stay and go down with us.

5. The global bankers still like us because we give corporations citizenship and let them run the
country, on every level. And, we never check green cards when they buy companies that own politicians and judges.

6. The USA is by far the largest economy in the world.
It is suffering from recession for 3 years now. The sky is not falling.

13. Only because we can still borrow from foreign countries at astounding rates, when they stop
lending it to us, the sky will fall with a resounding crash.

9. I sense some irony in your reply. Do you see a better
future for America than that in my OP?

11. We are living
The Decline of the Empire. History will look back on this as 'The Greater Depression.' It will be a global depression. There are too many people and not enough Resources.

All of these wars are Resource Wars. Seven billion people on this planet and 2 billion are hungry....that's close to 30%. We have 44 million on Food Stamps. And if that is cut, people would be in the street like they are in Libya, Syria, etc.

Plant a garden because Food Shortages are right around the corner. Stock up.

It's over....

if you don't believe me.

You're not depressing, you're realistic. I'm actually surprised we've lasted this long. QE2 is over. How many more of our Treasury Bonds can our own Federal Reserve buy???

It's a house of cards....with trillions of derivatives still there. Nothing has been done to fix the financial system...maybe if we could put Glass-Steagall back on the books, but I think it's too late. The dice have been thrown.

The banks are going to fail all on their own.

14. That's what I think. Who wants that burden?
What are we getting in exchange for it? Not only do we little people get nothing for it, it costs us in terms of taxes to support the military/industrial complex that serves the empire, and not the American people.
