How 'bout we STFU on "Weinergate" (uggh!) and wait for the actual FACTS to emerge?
The woman involved says it's bogus. His confrontation with CNN reporters made him look bad. Is he guilty? Is he innocent? I DON'T KNOW, AND NEITHER DO YOU!

Reflexive defense is a natural response when it comes to someone we all admire and respect. But let's not forget: the Repubichairs practice reflexive defense, too. Let's not be like the "wide-stance" Larry Craig apologists.

The fact that Andrew Breitbart is involved makes me suspect that Anthony Weiner is the victim of a hit job, as Bill Clinton once described it. But I'm old enough to remember a time in America when we actually used to WAIT. That doesn't come naturally to people undere 40. But guess what? Patience will get you to Truth much more effectively than Haste.

Let's see what unfolds, shall we?

1. How about I just don't care. Period.
Let's talk about Clarence Thomas' absence of ethics?

8. Yes. I'm deflecting attention to an unrelated matter.

Not simply GOP technique, but because weinergate is tabloid stupidity, and the unrelated matter (Thomas) will have life and death ramifications for tens of thousands of americans each year.

19. Exactly.
This is nothing more than a distraction from the real issues that matter.

9. So do we
It's just a matter of whose ox is being gored.

Congressman Weiner isn't my Rep so I really don't care what he is or isn't doing with his twitter account but he is a public figure and a politician which makes it a bit more entertaining. If he had an R behind his name, we'd be rushing to judgment at mach speed and you know it. ;)

10. Fact: Breitbart has zero track record as a responsible journalist and every single
report about this issue should be prefaced by a disclaimer of his past failings and association with a fabricator, liar, and smear job artist.

Facts of the Weiner story are as yet unclear...but the facts surrounding Breitbart are not.

14. Because we love fiddling around with unimportant things here on
DU. It's easier that discussing serious issues, where a guy has to actually weigh serious issues.

This is a non-story, as far as I'm concerned.

17. When has the media ever waited for facts?
Americans have always loved and supported witch hunts. We just don't burn people at the stakes anymore, we burn them in the media.
