An anecdotal illustration of the tone, tenor, and concern of the news media for the truth:
Chuck Todd, on his morning MSNBC show, was discussing Anthony Weiner's picture issue. He'd just concluded a segment with Major Garret as one of the talking heads. Rather than discuss issues and facts in any serious way, they sat there dishing, as if they were a fluff afternoon talk show.

On going to commercial, they posted a question: "What was Anthony Weiner's slogan as he sought class office while in college?"

The music played as they showed the question then faded to break?

Wait for it . . . . .

"I Wish I Were An Oscar Meyer Weiner"

May I have chorus of "fuck you" as I fade to black . . . . . . . ?
