Scott Signs Florida Bill Forcing Welfare Drug Tests
Florida Governor Rick Scott, saying residents shouldn't’t subsidize substance abusers, signed a bill that will require welfare recipients to submit to drug tests.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-31/florida-s-scott-signs-bill-forcing-welfare-drug-tests.html
----------------------------------

Welfare recipients will be required to pay $35 for the test.

It says they will be reimbursed... but (for example) where is a homeless person going to come up with the $35 to begin with? And how will they receive their reimbursement.. through the mail? What if you live in a tent and have no mailbox?

Drug testing for the unemployed is sure to follow.

Drug testing to vote? Don't worry... pRick Scott is already working on it.

2. If they are being "reimbursed", isn't the taxpayer paying for it.
Who is doing the testing and who did they donate to. Seems hypocritical if both aren't done.

3. Didn't they want republicans? well, they got one, the worst of all.
This good-4-nothing governor of my state is gonna make Florida a hell place to live in, did they not want a republican instead, in power? well, right now, all those who voted for this inept, nutjob Scott are already crying their eyes out and wanting to change to a democrat. I know. I live here and see and most importantly, hear what's going on. x(

4. Total pandering to his Wingnut base...
I saw a van yesterday with bible verse all over the back and a big cross on the rear window.

Right in the middle was a pRick Scott bumper sticker.

Wish I had my camera with me... one picture worth a thousand words and all that....

5. Rick Scott getting less popular... new poll..only 29% approve
Edited on Tue May-31-11 05:36 PM by lib2DaBone

Less popular than a cockroach or Poison Ivy? I would rather have Poison Ivy than this guy as Gov.

Has anyone noticed that this guy has the same vacant stare in his eyes as Scott Walker and Tim Pawlenty? Must be the "fundy" look of death...

10. Sure to be followed by a lawsuit.
Michigan is the only state to attempt to impose drug testing of welfare recipients – a policy that was struck down as unconstitutional in 2003. The ACLU challenged the mandatory drug testing program as unconstitutional, arguing that drug testing of welfare recipients violates the Fourth Amendment’s protection against unreasonable searches. The case, Marchwinski v. Howard, concluded when the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit upheld a lower court’s decision striking down the policy as unconstitutional.<16>
