Is it time for the USA to bring glorious freedom to North Korea?
Edited on Tue May-31-11 04:10 PM by quinnox
Since the USA has appointed itself the world freedom justice force, as shown in Libya and Iraq and Afghanistan, is it time to release the people from oppression in North Korea?

If so, what gives the USA the moral standing to do this, and why?

And if the USA is duty bound to bring freedom to all the worlds oppressed peoples, won't that keep us busy in wars for a very long time? How can we not eventually go bankrupt from funding all these freedom crusades, I don't see how it can be avoided.

Maybe we should just concentrate on all the numerous problems at home for once, instead of acting like some crazed freedom preacher determined to force our Democratic vision on people everywhere, like it or not!

The hubris of America is astonishing to me. No, we aren't the knight in shining armor for the world, so why pretend to act like it. Look at our history and its full of horrible things we have done, just like other nations.

3. I find it funny that the people cheering on "freedom" in Egypt and Libya are now complaining
about the costs of attaining that freedom. Iraq and Afghanistan are seperate from that point.

11. So it is ok if we are doing it?
Some things are internal problems.

Do you think the US would hesitate to use deadly force if it felt threatened internally?

6. We won't do a thing:
1) they may have atomic weapons.
2) in any case, their conventional artillery could savage Seoul before the U.S. could stop it.
3) they do have a shitload of soldiers.
4) land war in Asia.
5) they don't have any oil.

Hey though I would have to say "you can shove your *freedom* up yer uncle Sam!" thats really not my point.

I saw a rather harrowing interview with Tony Blair the other day also, in which he make the statement "Which regime, you say, we'll give them a chance; which regimes you'll say n-no" This is a troubling comment personally. One that should raise the odd eyebrow.

He then goes on to say "regime is a word where you feel there is a prospect," This I have to say is an abuse of language and just goes to show what we're taken for. The sights are set on everyone and all, if it can't be, you're a terrorist. See how easy this is?

Also, does he look more evil now?

10. We tried to bomb them into freedom in the early 50s using techniques we'd mastered in WWII
It didn't work.

13. The reasons of empire are inscrutable, and not available to the likes of you and I
Your role is to kill and die. Please review the messages sent to you by mass media, especially those from the last 36 hours or so. Weapons, uniforms, identification of an enemy, and transport to the place where you can launch your assault are basically all you need to know. You may gape in slack-jawed awe at the crisp uniforms, the sexy weaponry, and feel your heart flutter at the strains of martial music. Other pleasures are reserved for your betters.

14. No...
the people of North Korea will continue to suffer and die for who knows how long though. It's depressing to think about all the worst-off countries in the world, mostly because we are powerless to do much of anything about it.

15. It's time to bring glorious freedom to Canada
Those poor folks have been yearning for years to be freed from that oppressive socialist regime. I heard they even have forced health care up there that is ready to collapse at any minute.
