n Bahrain, the government has inflicted one of the most brutal crackdowns in the Middle East, rounding up, torturing and killing innocent protesters -- and the nurses and doctors who tend them. Now, in a blatant attempt to try and restore their battered global image, the government is trying to convince the world that all is normal and that a Formula 1 Grand Prix race should be held in Bahrain this year!
The decision is expected in a few days, but we can stop it from happening. If the leading teams refuse to race in Bahrain, Formula 1 will be forced to abandon the race and send a loud signal that Bahrain is not fit to host such occasions.
One less race this year would cost F1 and the teams millions. But Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and the others know their reputation is priceless. If we build a massive public outcry, we can push them to announce they won't go to Bahrain. Sign the petition now and when we reach 500,000 voices, Avaaz will launch a hard-hitting mass advertising campaign showing how Red Bull is driving over the human rights of the innocent people of Bahrain!
