Arizona to sue over medical-marijuana law

Jan Brewer is a complete idiot so therefore perfect as Governor of Arizona.

1. As a resident of Arizona
I agree with you about Brewer. And then there's McCain, Kyl, Arpaio and more. But when you say an idiot is perfect for Az., you are dissing the many (although in the minority) good liberals here. I guess everything is true blue in your state.
This "you got what you deserved" isn't really right. Brewer became Gov when Obama tapped Napolitano to serve.
I think, overall, there is too much state bashing here.

2. As a former resident of Arizona
I agree 100%.

There was a LOT more support for Clinton and other Dems in Arizona than I'll ever find in the red-state hell where I live now.

Janet Napolitano was governor there because she was popular with Republicans and Democrats alike. Enough said.

I'm so fucking sick of people calling Arizonans racists and other B.S., when it's simply not true. It was one of the first states to embrace Mexican people and their culture. Just because Arizonans are tired of border wars spilling into their state, does NOT make them racist.

They're just afraid, and rightfully so. It's the politicians--in Phoenix and Washington, D.C.--who are the idiots, not the people of Arizona.

3. we are NOT "justifiably afraid"
Edited on Sun May-29-11 09:03 PM by Kali
the fear is 50% propaganda-driven and 50% shitty policy (war on _________- pick your "enemy", it's mostly bullshit to benefit the police state/prison industry)

edit to add: and some of us don't buy it and aren't afraid

4. Citizens of Arizona have been voting for and have had mmj laws blocked since 1996
I posted this before the last election about the Arizona mmj history -

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/RainDog/25

It's not just the state of Arizona that is a problem - the federal govt - the attn general's office - the DEA - none of these agencies are willing to honor the votes of the people in states that have approved mmj laws.

What other medicine in the history of this nation has had to be made available by VOTE because agencies in the federal govt. BLOCK THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LAWS that indicate citizens in this nation have a better grasp of reality than anyone inside the beltway and anyone doing their bidding.

The AMA (American Medical Asso.) wants hearings to reschedule cannabis in order to better develop cannabis medicines.

The DEA RECOGNIZES that cannabis is not highly addictive and that it does have medicinal value as indicated by the scheduling of pharmaeuctical copycat drugs that are synthetic forms of cannabinoids.

It's time to stop this bullshit. It's another example of our govt favoring corporate interests over the interests of the people of this nation - it's an example of corruption at its worst because this same corruption targets minorities when selectively enforcing laws.

Obama needs to stop pandering to the money and show some compassion for those who suffer from cancer, MS, arthritis and more.

And just as importantly, Obama needs to own up to the fact that he knows cannabis is not more dangerous than alcohol and it should not be illegal in any form for adults just as alcohol is legal.
