Frank Lindh asks if his son can come out now...

Sorry Frank...

As much as he'd like to play off his son as the idealistic innocent who loves language it just ain't so.

"I love my son. I enjoy our periodic visits and our weekly telephone calls, but this visit felt different. “If Bin Laden is dead,” I kept thinking, “why can’t John come home?” "

1. My guess would be that John can't go home because John is incarcerated
because of what John did, not what bin Laden did.

You buys your ticket, you takes your ride.

2. He should never have been locked up.
He had nothing to do with 9/11.

The fact that he is in prison while the BFEE predators roam free is a huge injustice.

4. Nah.
He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, when the US invaded Afghanistan.

5. Actually, he took up arms against the Northern Alliance. Then Bush invaded.
I like to see who actually keeps facts straight.

He knew Americans were coming or were there.

Lucky he only got 20.

7. How do you know what he knew?
Because ChimpCo told you?

8. Tell me Cid, how he knew in March 2001 the US was coming?
Take your time. Take 20.

9. I think you are confused...
I am referring to the time post 9/11, the imminent invasion of Afghanistan and up until his capture in late November.

Glad to clarify. Cheers

11. He was capturedby the Northern Alliance five weeks into the invasion and turned over to the CIA.
I'm sure he had plenty of time to check in at the US consulate before then.

12. He took up ares FOR the Taliban...
Set aside what you think about internal Afghan politics, or OBL. He was providing support for a misogynistic, intolerant, violent, undemocratic Government. Doesn't get much sympathy from me.

13. That's not quite the same as "an American taking up arms against US forces".
And it's not the reason the US invaded.

14. I'm not arguing about why the US invaded.
I'm saying that John Lindh doesn't deserve much sympathy.

10. But illegally putting US soldiers in Afghanistan is OK with you?
You have a sorry set of values there.
