Alan Greenspan visited Ayn Rand until her death
No wonder the Federal Reserve is fucked up

n the early 1950s, Greenspan began an association with famed novelist and philosopher Ayn Rand.<29> Greenspan was introduced to Rand by his first wife, Joan Mitchell.

Rand nicknamed Greenspan "the undertaker" because of his penchant for dark clothing and reserved demeanor. Although Greenspan was initially a logical positivist,<39> he was converted to Rand's philosophy of Objectivism by her associate Nathaniel Branden. He became one of the members of Rand's inner circle, the Ayn Rand Collective, who read Atlas Shrugged while it was being written.

During the 1950s and 1960s Greenspan was a proponent of Objectivism, writing articles for Objectivist newsletters and contributing several essays for Rand's 1966 book Capitalism: the Unknown Ideal including an essay supporting the gold standard.<40><41> Rand stood beside him at his 1974 swearing-in as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Greenspan and Rand remained friends until her death in 1982.<29>

2. Top White House officials knew this, and yet they appointed and reappointed him.
I suppose Rand's philosophy is okay in their book. That should tell you something about the mind-set of top Administration officials, in both parties.

3. Greenspan quote
Shortly after “Atlas Shrugged” was published in 1957, Mr. Greenspan wrote a letter to The New York Times to counter a critic’s comment that “the book was written out of hate.” Mr. Greenspan wrote: “ ‘Atlas Shrugged’ is a celebration of life and happiness. Justice is unrelenting. Creative individuals and undeviating purpose and rationality achieve joy and fulfillment. Parasites who persistently avoid either purpose or reason perish as they should.”

I'm quite sure that Alan Greenspan would agree with Eric Cantor that the people who died or are suffering and need help in Joplin, for example, are parasites.

15. Resistance is Futile.
I saw Branden speak about ten years ago.

At that time he didn't have much good to say about Rand. Apparently they had a big falling out. I got the idea it had to do with her lack of humanity.

14. So Greenspan only weds women
with the last name of 'Mitchell?'

Well, at least the dude visited his friend when she was on her death bed. Most people don't do that...makes them feel uncomfortable.

Greenspan was responsible for the Housing Bubble.

You can blame Ayn Rand for everything wrong in this country, but IMHO, Milton Friedman is the true evil one. His economic theories have brought this country to its knees.

It's Chicago Economic Boyz, Stupid. But it's just not as much fun to attack a man as it is a woman from Russia. I know.
