This is like that doomsday weather movie, with the special effects of dozens of tornadoes touching down all at once.
I have never heard of so many huge tornadoes.

9. I saw a graph
after the Mississippi-Alabama area tornadoes that there were more tornadoes at the point of the year than any year before at the same point and was on pace to have the most tornadoes in a single year. I wonder where that graph is and if it has been updated.

alarm going off in the middle of the night. Definitely violent weather possibly tonight. And then the eeriness of the tornado siren when it's pitch dark.

14. Unusual weather came over Pikes Peak this morning...
Very seldom do we get early morning rain with hail in Colorado Springs. When the wind comes over the mountain and it is cold enough to create a hailstorm at this time of year, it affects the weather to the east. I have noticed that sometimes it will affect Oklahoma, sometimes Kansas. If it mixes with a lot of warm air to the South, it can affect weather as far east as Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee. Pikes Peak is like a barometer for this type of weather, I have noticed.

65. Many, if not most, businesses and stores closed up or took shelter.
I went home at 4 pm, and the traffic was incredible. Everyone was going somewhere. People were taking this VERY seriously, I think Joplin scared everybody, and we don't have good luck with tornadoes here. The Governor even shut down the state government in early afternoon when it became apparent that this was a serious threat. I will give her props for that.

We care about the city and the people who live there plenty. Perhaps that wasn't what you meant, but let's not take swipes at OKC during a time of tragedy, either.

Not the time or place, and forgive me if I misunderstood out of worry for my family members, or my past history with another weather related tragedy.

61. Oh, I wasn't taking a swipe.
I took from your comment that you weren't taken care of by your fellow Louisianans. I was just trying to make you feel better that as hateful as this conservative hell hole can be, at least after a natural disaster, your sister would be taken care of. Sorry I offended. It was not my intent.

63. We stuck together
During Katrina, and I wasn't in LA. I was in Hancock County, MS, the hardest hit county/parish of them all during Katrina.

I got the blessing of knowing I have neighbors that will stick by me through thick and thin, and I was just commenting that I don't want my sister, my brother-in-law and my nieces to understand that much hardship.

Cleaning up after a disaster is far from pretty, particularly if you have no electricity, no water, and communications. No roads, little gas, and simple things like eating become monumental blessings because of the devastation. It made me a far better person, and it taught me to value those close to me.
