Storms to hit Plains again Tuesday
The savage tornado outbreak that killed more than 100 people across the central USA on Sunday could be repeated today, as yet another round of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are forecast to batter the Plains.

We're looking at a fairly widespread tornado outbreak" today, said Weather Channel meteorologist Mark Ressler.

He said that the states under the greatest threat for tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds today include Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.

This threat area includes the cities of Dallas, Topeka and Tulsa, AccuWeather meteorologist Brian Edwards said.

1. We're on the northern edge of it all.
Still, the dog is out sunning while he has a chance today, the clothes are on the line, and I'm waiting for the bleach fumes to calm down in the basement so I can finish it before tonight's storms. A friend has already dropped off a change of clothes for her kids and some bottled water/snack packs. She'll be by later today to help me set up the basement with bedding and such, just in case.

3. Yep.
Between 4pm and midnight here. I believe Joplin starts earlier-at 1pm.

Our basement flooded with the heavy rain yesterday so I have to bleach it before the mold builds up. (I have nasty mold allergies and the basement has just an old outside entrance. It's an old-fashioned cellar.) A friend lives in a trailer so she brings her kids over whenever there is a bad storm.

We're ready for it tonight. I noticed a few people on my block seem to have called in to work and are cleaning up the branches from yesterday and getting ready for possibilities tonight.
