Mitch Daniels says no to running for President
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, a former top aide to George W. Bush, ended his very public flirtation with running for president early Sunday with an e-mail to supporters that narrowed the field of plausible 2012 Republican challengers to President Barack Obama.

"The counsel and encouragement I received from important citizens like you caused me to think very deeply about becoming a national candidate," Daniels said in the message distributed through the Indiana Republican Party.

"In the end, I was able to resolve every competing consideration but one, but that, the interests and wishes of my family, is the most important consideration of all."

With top Republicans anxious about the underwhelming state of the Republican field, Daniels was pressed to enter the race by close advisers and former Bush administration officials who worked with him when he served as White House budget director from 2001 to 2003.

2. Too much Bushco baggage.
Being Smirky's budget guy probably didn't inspire a lot of confidence.

4. Mitch Milquetoast, esq, had NO chance to win
and he saw the handwriting on the wall..

Pawlenty already has the nerdy-wimp candidacy covered.

People with "complicated" family lives need to think long and hard about the adversarial nature of the tabloid press, and it seems that he did.

Good for him.

Newtie will see that handwriting soon too.

I predict that there will be a final group that will be:

Mittens
Paw-Paw
PizzaMan
BatBoy's Mom
Ron Paul
The Huntsman
Santorum

and since those are all LOSERS...

the party will draft

Bully-man from NJ (Christie)

He says he's not interested, but he's only reluctant because he does not want to raise the money and campaign..he will sit back and wait to be wooed into it, and he;ll be like Ahhhhnold was when the goopers made him our gov. He was pushed onto us at the 11th hour so the scrutiny would be minimal.

I can actually foresee a Christie/Perry ticket.

7. *Can't* let this slide down-page without savoring: (taking a bow... )
In an LBN thread from yesterday or the day before about his having sixteen stitches for having a door slam him in the head, I posted:

Yesss!1 This is like Ricky LAZIO's falling on his face, a portent of FAIL!1

And this morning, PRESTO, how's *that* for results!1 But I am mindful of the Greek, "Be careful what you wish for..."
