Spain.
I wonder if the unrest and protests in Spain today are making the Republicans here as well as some of our own beloved Democrats just a little uncomfortable. NPR had a report this morning about thousands of people, many young, demonstrating against their government because of very high unemployment (45% among young people) and the proposed reduction of retirement benefits. These demonstrators are saying that the wealthy elite and the politicians are screwing them. Sound familiar? NPR is calling it the "Spanish Spring."

2. It should make them all nervous

Global capital is trying to roll back the clock and recinding the modest social advancements of the past century, bought with much blood and effort. The Spanish Socialists Party is utterly collaberationist, much like the Democratic Party and that is why they are being rejected. The Democratic Party should take note, not that I expect it to change it's tune but just so it understands it's demise.
