NYC: Funeral for fire dept lieutenant who survived 9/11, committed suicide last week

"A funeral was held on Friday for John A. Garcia, a retired New York fire lieutenant, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Tappan, N.Y. He was 51."

"Mr. Garcia's survivors include, from left, his son John; daughter Christina (holding flowers); wife, Lynn; daughter Jennifer; and son Charlie."

The article also reports that Garcia survived another giant fire in NYC, this time at the former Deutsche Bank building at the World Trade Center site in August 2007, in which two firefighters died of smoke inhalation. Garcia had served in the NYFD from 1986 to 2009.

Garcia was a selfless, hardworking, risktaking hero. He will be missed. :cry: :patriot:
