I asked this question about the Rapture today...
I'm riding the bus home and one person kept preaching to the whole bus about how God was going to judge who was worthy of rapture Saturday night at 6PM. He kept saying that everyone who didn't live a Godly life would be left behind. And he sure let it be made known who he considers NOT to have lived a "godly" life starting with a certain person in a certain Oval Office.

So I asked this guy how would God judge a pregnant woman's unborn child. Since an unborn child hasn't had a chance to live outside the womb, will it be raptured? Wouldn't all unborn children be raptured, even those carried by those he alleged to have not lived a Godly life? I then reminded him of certain bible verses about shrimp, wearing mixed fiber clothes, slavery and touching unclean animal skins.

Silence...The look on his face...priceless...

I got a feeling I'll still be seeing him when I hop on the bus this Sunday...

4. Often these people don't know crap about religion. They just mouth stuff. I took
the test that was floating around on religion and got just about a perfect score, way higher than any devout christian taking the test, and I'm not even religious. I just don't talk nonsense.

5. The Wisdom of George Carlin ....
“The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. I mean, life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get at the end of it? A Death! What's that, a bonus? I think the life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, get it out of the way. Then you live in an old age home. You get kicked out when you're too young, you get a gold watch, you go to work. You work forty years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You do drugs, alcohol, you party, you get ready for high school. You go to grade school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a little baby, you go back into the womb, you spend your last nine months floating...

...and you finish off as an orgasm.”

7. I never heard him say that one, but I always have thought
it's backassward too. We should start old and work our way to young. That way by the time we can do the things we'd like to after we're old, we'd have the youth, stamina AND wisdom to do it right.

6. I had a good one in a car dealer waiting room one day
while I was waiting for my car to get fixed.
The dealer had a large screen TV with DISH network. So I turned it to FreeSpeechTV.
Michael Palin ( the organic food guy) was giving a lecture.
Some young (@ 30) farmer type in the back of the room started making comments. Finally he said real loud:
"I bet this guy's never even been on a farm. I bet he's never grown anything. Why should anybody believe a word he says?"

I don't know what ever possessed me but I responded:
"Do you go to church on Sunday?"
"Every Sunday" he said.
"The preacher, does he ever talk about heaven and how wonderful it is?"
" Every Sunday"
"Has he ever been there, do you think?"

Guy got up and stomped out.

10. You should have asked him about Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32
How anybody can actually believe what Harold Camping says in spite of these two Biblical passages shows that the stupid is strong with Mr. Camping and anybody dumb enough to listen to him. Either the guy on the bus you speak of has never read the Bible or is extremely gullible.

11. I am willing to bet he will have all kinds of excuses
I stumped one with 6PM, is that GMT, EST... I mean a gal needs to plan... he stood there actually trying to figure that out....

Now they come with the official... 6PM EVERY TIME ZONE. I guess the date line and time zones are too complex for the lord himself. Hey he only knew how to measure in CUBITS...

14. Harold Camping (the huckster behind these claims) says it will be 6 PM in every time zone
According to him, the rapture will start in New Zealand and work its way around the world in the form of a giant earthquake. Harold Camping is probably the first guy to predict that the world will end in 24-hour increments, but most of his claims are waaaaay out there, even by fundie standards.

Matthew 24:36 and Mark 13:32 both say that "no man can know the day or the hour." I already thought it was stupid enough for him to pick a day, but he's even further disregarding that passage...he's now picking the hour, too.

Even most fundies realize that Harold Camping is a hack and a snake-oil salesman.

15. I know, but for a huckster you'd think his followers
would realize that this carpenter...err god... who is all powerful... would understand time zones and date line.

Suffice it to say I stomped this guy of a month ago? So perhaps they heard enough smart aleck non believers to give them a ready made answer that makes me think, God only knows CUBITS
