Defense attorney: Texas mom charged in slay case wants to join son in heaven

The defense attorney for a Texas woman who is charged with killing her 6-year-old son and dumping him on a Maine road last weekend said this morning that she loved her son and wanted to join him in heaven.

Julianne McCrery “loves her son. He’s dead. He’s in heaven. She wants to be with him,” said George Murphy. “She said over and over again I want to go to heaven.”

McCrery has tried to kill herself at least three times before, he said, by overdosing on drugs, carbon monoxide exhaust from a car, and eating castor beans

Murphy spoke to reporters this morning at Concord District Court, where McCrery is slated to be arraigned today on a fugitive of justice charge.
