The next President of the United States: Tim Geithner
As we all know now, the rapture will happen this Saturday. This will of course make a dent in the US government as many leaders are Christians. It is expected that Obama, Biden, Boehner, Inouye, and Hillary will be raptured. The next in line that is not Christian is Tim Geithner. After Saturday he will be President Tim Geithner.

He might jump the line.

3. I'm recruiting for a Post-Rapture "Atheists 4Ever" Dragon/Giant Locust-riding sky army.
Edited on Wed May-18-11 09:55 AM by Poll_Blind
Keep resumes handy, knowledge of Dawkins a plus as well as, of course, prior Dragon or Giant Locust rodeo experience. Those who may have participated in Dragon/Giant Locust rodeos as clowns, please make note on resume so that we may put you in the special air unit.

He's not going to be president long.

8. I don't think that just being a Christian is enough.
You have to be the Right Kind of Christian - or so I've heard - to be Raptured.

The rest of us, no matter what we are or aren't, are destined to Hell for all eternity.

Or so the story goes.

If I wake up on May 22 and find myself surrounded by the Right Kind of Christians, I will first wonder how in Hell such a mistake was made and then I will know that I truly am in Hell.

18. In the long run, it depends on how much credence one puts
in "the story." It also depends on who is doing the telling and which version of "the lord" we're talking about.

It's just too much like the story of the blind men and the elephant. There are a lot of blind persons trying to tell us what the elephant really is like, all the while with a hand out for contributions to their cause. But I am pretty sure the elephant is nothing like what they describe.

I could be wrong, but I'm not losing sleep over it. I've lived through too many similar Doomsday scenarios.

The really sad thing is that even with all the information that is freely available today, there are still people who fall for the DSs.

I was going to say that P.T. Barnum underestimated when he said "There's a sucker born every minute." But according to History Buff, Barnum never said it. http://www.historybuff.com/library/refbarnum.html Whoever did, IMO, underestimated.

12. No, it will be Biden. Catholics don't believe in the rapture crap. Not even
sure if Obama is part of that cult. It is only certain protestant sects that believe in that stuff and you have to have been "saved".

13. i believe you're right
rapture is big here in kansas -- it has everything to do with being *saved,* which i think amounts to publicly (in church) announcing that you believe jeebus is the lord/savior. by so doing, you're metaphorically (?) covered with the blood of christ. when i asked about those who are saved who are still major assholes, the answer is that once saved, always saved. when i asked about what the big guy in the sky thinks about those assholes, the answer is that he sees only the blood of christ when rapturing these folks, and therefore even the biggest asshole gets in.

lots of wiggle room here for the wannabes, of course (behold Xtianism!)

Anyone else have info about all this? after living here for 25 years, i'm still not sure i get what's involved, but i think the above is close.

19. No. The rapturists believe you have to be "saved" before you can be
raptured. The rapturists feel that Catholics are heathens for their worship of the Pope.
