Animal Shelter Defends its Actions
http://www.fox4kc.com/news/wdaf-dog-mistakenly-adopted-out-by-shelter-20110517,0,5221160.story

INDEPENDENCE, Mo.—
Independence Animal Control is speaking out after a man says they mistakenly adopted out his dog to another family. They say they were simply following the rules mandated by the State of Missouri.

On March 16, Craig Van Campernolle's social worker called an ambulance to get him to the hospital. He is a paraplegic and lives alone. The fire department called Animal Control to board the dog while Campernolle had surgery.

He thought his social worker would take care of Kino the dog, his beloved Siberian Huskey. The shelter says 10 days went by with no contact from Campernolle and his family so they put the dog up for adoption. A new family took him home without his consent.

1. The social worker fucked up more, I think. And the family that says the won't give the dog back are
a special kind of heartless.

4. As bad as that is, the issue isn't really the shelter it is people buying animals
When you have people that buy and treat animals like an accessory, you're going to have an over-abundance of animals in shelters. No matter how much any of us would like shelters to all be no-kill shelters it's just not feasible. Some shelters see more "action" than others.
