The rule is there to protect 100 members of a select club - the US Senate. There's often talk of some lofty reason, the tyranny of the majority, the power of the minority. Whatever.

The net effect of the 60 vote rule is that the Senate can effectively get away with doing NOTHING. They can protect their real owners while telling us they tried to help us. It has been like this for a couple of decades. Through republican and Democratic leadership, it's the same old kabuki dance, they same old medicine show, the same old shell gamie, the same old hand of three card Monte.

The united states senate - whee hope goes to die.

Think about it. Think about 2008. Democrats controlled it all - except for one vote in the senate. And because of that we got leftovers. We got compromise. We had to settle. We got punked.

As planned.

I will bet that if either party got, say, 62 seats, they'd vote to require 65 votes.

The system is broken. All hail the system.

1. Where there's life, there's hope
and where there's injustice, there's revolution in waiting...

2. Well we got them 60 to see if that was true.
And you are correct they still stalled out.

You topic is entering the idea of building of the framework of right to revolution, and building the just and compassionate case for revolution, when you point that out.

There is a factor of inertia also in that thought, where direction moving means alot, but you are correct that is a problem, but it builds that tower as a correction.

And to those that think all rebellion is bad by religious doctrine, those against the people are in rebellion. So what is thought of as revolution can be establishing order. As stated by the instruction of serve the people.

But anyways, there are better ways to fix things, but then again, I am still due beer and travel money, and many experiences, so I know what you mean.

5. When Republicans have it, they don't worry about it.
They get what they want by threatening to change the rules. The rules are there to give Conservadems cover.
