I'm beginning to think there's an underlying cause to the
economic problems that currently plagues this nation. I'm beginning to think it might have to do with overpopulation. This is why the use of contraceptives should be emphasized to schoolchildren from an early age. I also think that should contraceptives not work, that women should be able to have the right to choose in the first twelve weeks whether or not to continue on.

to most of the world's problems. Population growth and more growth makes absolutely no sense in a finite space, Earth. And hopefully mankind will not be able to populate the Universe more than Earth thus saving the rest of the Universe from a lot of grief.

And Welcome to DU!

4. I don't agree. There is an appropriate age for sex education, and

"from an early age" doesn't sound like the appropriate age. Also, although I do agree that sex education should include information about contraceptives as well as the benefits of abstention, I don't think the use of contraceptives should be "pushed" over abstinence. Neither do I think that abstinence should be the only thing taught. It's a fact that many teenagers do become sexually active before marriage, and unless someone finds a way to change mother nature, I don't see how that is going to change anytime soon. I think that IF teens do choose to become sexually active against the counsel given them, then they should have knowledge about contraceptives so that the harm from their actions is hopefully limited. Hopefully they will not contract an STD or become pregnant before they would like to.

I am pro-choice for the first trimester of pregnancy. I've come to this moral decision by giving it a great deal of thought, prayer, reading scripture, reading writings from religious teachers I respect, and most importantly reading scientific reports that convinced me more harm would be done by not having legalized abortion, than by having it.

BTW, welcome to DU.

Oh, and I also think overpopulation is going to cause us some real problems down the road. We are running out of potable water, good arable land, fisheries, rare metals, etc. and I don't know if technology is going to rescue us from this, this time.

5. the reason that our economy is in bad shape
is because the rich have too much of the money. wealth distribution is the problem not overpopulation.

6. another economic opinion I have is that one has to
experience the worst to get better. We need the republicans to privatize medicare, abolish social security and basically repeal the 20th century. Most of the nation is politically apathetic, which somewhat puts us at a disadvantage. We need the republicans to gain full control and cause unemployment to be at 25 percent. Once this happens, Americans will finally become more politically motivated and we will be able to finally make the changes we want in creating a legitimate middle class by gaining the 3/5 in the senate needed to prevent republican obstructionism.
