What time on Saturday is the "rapture" supposed to happen?

Saturday is a busy day, and I need to schedule my looting around a golf outing and the kids' soccer games.

Also.... Will the world end on Eastern Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time? I doubt the "bible code" took into account the invention of Daylight Savings Time.

These are major questions... What about Saturday Night Live? Will their show be cut short? I hope not before Weekend Update.

And what happens during the NBA and NHL playoffs if half the players are "assumed into heaven" during the games? That would potentially give an unfair advantage to whichever team has more heathens on it.

I also want to avoid freeways that day.... don't want to have to dodge a bunch of driver-less cars.

Hopefully, the majority of those that are raptured are boomers... that way we can save Medicare before the "boomer bomb" hits.

I hope my Mother-in-Law has lived a righteous life (though I highly doubt it). I wouldn't mind her disappearing.

These are questions that need to be answered, Dammit!

6. My sister is throwing a big party that day...
She didn't even know it was the end of the world as we know it! She just felt like having a party... maybe she's psychic?

I listened to the preacher man on the radio a couple of weeks ago. (Laugh riot!) He said it would start with earthquakes in the islands in Indonesia, and it would work its way north and west around the Pacific Rim. I'm guessing it will be late by the time it "hits" California since it becomes 5/21 far later in the CA day. With any luck, I'll have had a few by then;)

9. It doesn't, actually...
Saturday is just the beginning of the end.

The "real" Rapture happens on October 21st.

Although I guess there's no set time for that day, either.

anyway, on Oct 21st I expect to see people floating up to Heaven in waves...like how they do the fireworks around the world on New Years Eve, by time zone.

Yep, you read that right. Harold Camping, the guy spearheading this claim, states that it will happen with a major earthquake that will start at 6pm, local time.

If he is right, we should be able to see the first earthquake happen in the Mid-Pacific, then watch as it travels around the world, keeping pace with 6pm, local time.

40. The Post Rapture Post is a business created by an atheist!
He's quite candid. Click on "About Us"

The Post-Rapture Post website was conceived in 2005 by an Atheist computer scientist looking to help those who believe that the end of the world is near. You may be wondering why I created a website offering services based upon an event that I believe will never happen. The answer is that, while I don't personally believe, I feel that others may need my services in the event that the impossible happens. Also I need money to support my sinful lifestyle. To better help you to understand our mission, I have included a FAQ (If your question is not on our list feel free to send me an email).

23. How many here know that most Christians do NOT believe in the "Rapture"?
The "Rapture" is a doctrine cobbled together a couple of hundred years ago by forcing scriptures together to make them support the doctrine and disregarding prophecies fulfilled a couple of thousand years ago as yet to happen. Even those who believe in the rapture have simply swallowed what others have fed them without looking for the truth themselves, they believe what they are told.

I wonder, if my neighbors all die in a car crash and won't be needing their stuff anymore is it ok for me to simply go to their home and take what I like? That doesn't sound so clever but the concept is the same.

52. The "Rapture" idea is put together by prosperity "christians" who believe that God couldn't possibly
want his people to go through any kind of hard times if/when the end of the world comes to pass.

I say that this is hubris of the highest level, to think that they (or we, as I am christian) are above the overall human experiences which people endure. Real faith is proven by trials in real life.

55. No, the popular idea of the Rapture today came from the 19th century (1827):
http://www.sullivan-county.com/news/cathouse/darby.htm

The doctrine of a secret rapture was first conceived by John Nelson Darby of the Plymouth Brethren in 1827. Darby, known as the father of dispensationalism, invented the doctrine claiming there were not one, but two "second comings." This teaching was immediately challenged as unbiblical by other members of the Brethren. Samuel P. Tregelles, a noted biblical scholar, rejected Darby's new interpretation as the "height of speculative nonsense." So tenuous was Darby's rapture theory that he had lingering doubts about it as late as 1843, and possibly 1845. Another member of the Plymouth Brethren, B.W. Newton, disputed Darby's new doctrine claiming such a conclusion was only possible if one declared certain passages to be "renounced as not properly ours."

Sandeen writes, "this is precisely what Darby was prepared to do. Too traditional to admit that biblical authors might have contradicted each other, and too rationalist to admit that the prophetic maze defied penetration, Darby attempted a resolution of his exegetical dilemma by distinguishing between Scripture intended for the Church and Scripture intended for Israel. . . . Darby's difficulty was solved by assuming that the Gospels were addressed partly to Jews and partly to Christians."

Thus, the doctrine of the separation of Israel and the Church, the foundation of dispensationalism, was born out of Darby's attempt to justify his newly fabricated rapture theory with the Bible. Dispensationalists believed justification for carving up the Scriptures came from 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV) "rightly dividing the word of truth." Subsequent dispensationalists divided the Scriptures in terms of categories of people: Jew, Gentile, and Christian. Chafer taught that the only Scriptures addressed specifically to Christians were the gospel of John, Acts, and the Epistles! Pettengill taught that the Great Commission was for the Jews only.

The doctrine of the Rapture is only a couple of hundred years old and has had waves of popularity, one of which was back in the middle 1970s. It was invented and is not an accepted doctrine by the majority of mainline Christian churches.

and stuff first.

Who's gonna sing the National Anthem?

I hope my little black dress isn't too formal.

72. Are they bringing in extra air traffic controllers for that shift?
With all the raptured air born, there are bound to be collisions.

82. I find it very alarming that news of the impending second coming has not reached the far corners.
My friends in the Panhandle of Nebraska have no idea. Somebody's gonna be held to account for this and I mean it!

88. Well, you know, I was thinking that maybe Jesus and his posse want an element of surprise.
Like, maybe the rapture is planned for an undisclosed time and only the heavenly higher-ups with the highest security clearance know the time (and then on only a need-to-know basis). So I figure Jesus is gonna come down in a stealth helicopter like a Navy Seal and go all "Bin Laden raid" on all the sinners' asses. That way there can be no last-minute repenting, which is kinda like cheating. That sounds logical -- nay -- likely, to me.
