The Lean Forward ads on MSNBC - Which one is your favorite?
Edited on Mon May-16-11 11:43 AM by apples and oranges
The four new ads show Chris Matthews, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell and Ed Schultz at various locations around the country, talking about different issues.

Spike Lee directed them. The ads can be seen here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/25/msnbc-lean-forward-ads_n_853378.html#s268971&title=Chris_Matthews

I like Chris Matthews' and Rachel Maddow's ads the best.

4. Moving ahead...
not regressing, progressive, not looking back, in unison, away from the pack, making the strong long term effort, not flighty, in for the long haul.

That's what I get from Lean Forward

25. In practical terms. Like does it mean we don't prosecute war criminals?
Edited on Mon May-16-11 02:09 PM by valerief
Or we don't prosecute environmental criminals? Or we don't prosecute election criminals? That kind of moving forward?

28. They do the messaging. Messaging that means nothing practical.
That's why I hate it.

5. I think Matthews' ad is the WORST. Because he's a finger-in-the-winder.
Is that a new term?

His ad is compelling if you nothing about him. But he's completely full of shit. He'll change his mind again when the company tells him to. I admit, he has some great shows when he's on fire and passionate...but how do you know if the passion is real, or if it's just grabbing the next paycheck? We've seen him fawn over GWBush's codpiece and "Shock and Awe." So now he does a commercial for his employers which says "Look, we're fair!" Bullshit. Fox did that, too.

Rachel, Ed and Lawrence have at least stood their ground. No ambiguity, whether you like them or not. Matthews is a whore.

17. I just loved the one with her hands and knees on the floor laying out
stacks of research on an issue so she can track all the points. The close up of her face and her fast writing are esp. riveting. Keeps your interest and gives you an insight into the way she works.

8. I like them all...
O'Donnell's are passionate, Rachel's are a powerful endorsement of why we need a strong government, but I love the one of Ed in the diner...his delivery of the line "I need two shows." is priceless and I love the chuckles that follow. Don't really like or understand the meaning of lean forward;I mean, I get that it means progress. However, most of these ads are extremely progressive. One just aired a moment ago which had O'Donnell discussing citizenship given to a soldier after his death, and I thought, how very liberal that message was and how did MSNBC allow that dramatic statement in a commercial.

Poor Chris, I know he's sitting with the capitol or White House in the background, but I don't remember what he says. I need to pay attention to his.

Love Rachel though; she is one amazing human being.

I nominate the 7PM slot for that extra hour for him.

10. I really like Lawrence's...
...which kind of surprised me, given that although I ~do~ like his program, I probably like it the least of any of the other shows including Hardball. Still better than just about anything else on television, but he seems so...staid? Is that the word I'm looking for? Too calm, placid. (Sorry, having some serious vertigo problems today, words aren't flowing like they normally do). But that same placidity is what makes his Lean Forward the best imo.

14. I can't stand Tweety, couldn't watch his entire ad. Rated it low.
I rated Rachel a 10. Others fairly high -- even O'Donnell, who I don't care for, either.

18. I liked Ed with the empty shipping containers.
It was very strong. I am not a particular fan of the Ed Show.

But I approve of all the new ads. Rachel should be president.

If I had to choose, then Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz. But I liked all of them. I didn't see Cenk. Where was he?

23. Cenk... I forgot about him, but I don't think he adds much
to the discussion that can be summarized in a 30 second ad. I don't think he knows who he is yet. What does he stand for? I know he was a republican just a few short years ago!

Tweety's kinda sucks. He seems to be reacting to something that hasn't happened yet (the 2012 campaign).
