So the French guy from the IMF
MS NBC is wringing their hands, the talking heads, the guest clips, etc.

Excuse me but, isn't there a #2 guy to take over? Is this MF'er the ONLY capable person on the planet to take over the job? What if he got hit by a bus, or the old geezer suffered a heart attack or stroke - then what?

He's an alleged rapist or at the very least he allegedly assaulted the maid - are they saying he's TOO BIG to PROSECUTE? Screw the slimy old perverted bastard. Get the #2 guy in place and get over it.

NO ONE is irreplaceable. imo.

wearing a burqa in public on the very day the law against it went into effect. He was arguing that she didn't really have a "right" to wear what she damn well pleased. That there was a "collective" right of the people to insist on their own cultural standards. I pointed to the famed French "Droit du l'homme" document in the 18th century (and much beloved by the French people). He said that has nothing to do with it and I believe him. Interesting how he simply ignored this woman's right in favor of a general rule of "what's French and what's not."

We then had a nice discussion in which I told him that they shouldn't bitch about all these "foreign" people coming into France, esp. not those from the Mahgreb. "You should have thought about that before you went into those North African countries, broke up their cultural norms, robbed them of their natural resources and left them to fight over the crumbs..." Surprisingly, he agreed with me on that point!

24. The funny part was that this lady was arrested at the Louvre!
Here she is at the place with the zenith of French culture soaked into it, taking it all in, and they send in the gendarmes to arrest her! A crime against society!

7. I'm sure he is and was put in charge the minute
NYPD had the geezer at JFK.

What pisses me off is the god-like status they give these people. We all know that there is probably more than 1 guy in line for this job. It's the IMF! I understand that but, to make it sound that the world will collapse and whatever deals and backroom politics are going on HE is the only one who can do the job.

Just pisses me off. What about the Maid? No seems to give a shit about her? We've all seen and heard what this scumbags are like. Remember when w was on Letterman and used the Producer's sweater to clean his glasses? People like the Maid and others in low paying, low prestige jobs - these people are looked upon as nothing - inconsequential, expendable.

I was reading something about a farm worker - collapsed in 90 degree heat. The owner didn't want to call paramedics right away - she died as a result of the delay. She was 19.

17. I have to laugh just thinking about that arrest. I saw one when I was at JFK getting off
an Iberian flight from Spain. A very large, very mean NYPD officer was fighting his way to get onto the plane to arrest someone, mad as hell that the flight attendant had already started to let people get off. I asked my son, who is a prosecutor in NYC, if maybe it was a drug bust, but he said since the guy was uniformed NYPD they probably had an outstanding arrest warrant or a bench warrant (which is what I think they had on this IMF creep). I hope the arresting officer was as big and mean looking as this guy was...he had "don't mess with me" written all over his face...

10. He is LEADER OF FRENCH SOCIALIST PARTY and was leading in Polls

There are huge political and economic implications. The IMF head is like a G8 President. The next likely leader of the IMF ($1 Trillion Fund) is currently the French Finance Minister Christine Legarde.

The IMF functioning will be shaky for a while.

13. You seem better informed than I about the IMF
The French Finance Minister, Christine Legarde - is she reputable? You're opinion would be fine ;) The few brain cells I have left can't handle anything as complex as the G8 or the IMF. It's enough trying to keep up with what's going on here on a small scale. Thanks :)

25. The story about what happened in the hotel room does not make sense.
Edited on Mon May-16-11 01:33 PM by JDPriestly
At least according to Yahoo, he came out of the bathroom shower, naked, saw her there and chased her down a hall into a bedroom. She was 32 and he was 62. When I was 38, I could not run as fast as my 32-year-old fellow runners. And I had run quite a bit when I was young.

She claims she struggled or something. If that is true, he will have marks on his naked body because she claims he was naked. He has submitted to forensic examinations, so that will become evident.

I can think of some other scenarios for the facts the maid describes such as that he may have caught her looking through his things.

I am usually on the side of the woman, but something in this story does not make sense to me.

Also, he had a reputation as a seducer. That suggests that he likes the interaction and ego boost of seducing women. The lure of rape is very different. It has to do with feeling powerful and disassociated from the woman who is merely to be dominated.

I suppose a man could be both.

There is something more to this story than we have learned thus far.

I remember all the enthusiastic condemnation of Blagojevich. I didn't think the prosecutor had much of a case. All but one count failed.

More facts on this IMF director story might change my mind, but thus far, I don't think her story adds up.

he also attacked them:

Odds are his powerful position has kept him out of trouble up to this point.

27. If stories like that are corroborated it could change my view.
Never forget the professor in college who gave me a D on an exam on which I knew I had done well. He told me that I needed to come to his house to discuss it with him.

I was a ridiculously naive young thing -- and I realize now when I look at my old phots, by no means ugly. Well, when I got there, he told me he had to meet me in his house because his wife was out and he had to babysit his son.

The rest is predictable. I got out, my virtue unscathed. He raised my grade, needless to say. I never told anyone about it. Women usually don't.

We shall see.
