President Obama appears to have made a good decision to keep on Secretary Robert Gates
Just seen an interview of him on 60 Minutes and he seems to be a capable and decent fellow.

Reminds me a little bit of W.C. Fields, but that is besides the point.

1. Keeping Gates and his warmongering policies
Edited on Sun May-15-11 06:33 PM by Pab Sungenis
was one of the things that lost Obama the Democratic base and led to us losing the House last year.

Big -1.

4. Actually, continuation of Bush Era policies are absolutely a cliche. What's new is that the pro-war
thugs have added to their ranks Democrats who are too soft-minded and swayed by celebrity to stand on actual ideas, platforms, and principles.

10. We lost the House last year due to the economy and the terrible jobs situation..
it had nothing to do with Gates.

Seriously though, do you think Secretary Gates is on the forefront of the average voter's mind?

3. I liked his quote about the excess "infrastructure" that was added to the Pentagon
I really wish that he had set the budget for a period of decreases than the "constant $700 Billion/year" that is his plan. I think Gates was uniquely qualified to manage the Iraq-quagmire.

5. I agree. It was a very good profile. The people (on both sides) who hate anything that makes
President Obama look good will hate it.

26. Gates makes Obama look good?
I'm sure we're all rejoicing at 10 years of Bush/Obama wars --

Remember '06 -- Pelosi on video proclaiming the morning after . . .

"Democrats were elected to end the war!" -- ???

And for the last five years they've done nothing but refund and keep the wars going!

If Obama hired Cheney some here would think it was wonderful --

30. Robert Gates is a career BushCo fixer.
He's well spoken and sounds reasonable, not a blowhard like Rumsfeld. But he's a war criminal just he same. It just shows you that the face of evil is sometimes a nice looking one. That has nothing to do with hating Obama, it's just a fact.

13. Huh?
I guess I missed something big. What happened to all the Pinetta and all that jazz? Why did they go there in the first place and then back down. I'm sorry but this makes Obama look kind of Wishy-Washy when he was looking like "great strong leader" one week ago. Who the hell is running the show?---seriously, who the hell is running the show?

17. What? What are you talking about? "Wishy-Washy"? You put "great strong leader" in quotes because
apparently you never believed it.

Nothing changed.

Same story.

This is either a freeper or green party invasion.

But, hey, that's nothing new around here.
