Wait Strauss Kahn chased the hotel worker
down the hall, dragged her into the room and assaulted her.
IMF now means I'M F(ucked) for DSK.

<snip>

Strauss-Kahn was expected to plead not guilty in a New York state court of charges that he tried to rape a chambermaid at an New York City hotel after chasing her, naked, down a corridor and trying to lock her in a room.

IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn's arrest on sexual assault charges, weeks before he was expected to announce a presidential bid, looks set to scar France's political landscape and remold its coming election campaign.

"This is the end of his political career, and for France, it's a moment of proof that will be hard to move past," said Dominique Paille of the centrist Radical Party, summing up much of the reaction to the weekend scandal.

President Nicolas Sarkozy's center-right government, which now stands a better chance of holding onto power in 2012, warned against rushing to conclusions in the case.
-----------------
That last paragraph is what hits me - Sarkozy now stands a better chance of holding onto power. That said I'm sure there were cameras in the corridor.
The damage has been done - his political career is over.

2. I don't believe that version of the story is correct.
Other version says she went into his room to clean it and he came out of the bathroom naked.

10. Are the two stories that incompatible?
What if he came out of the bathroom, she ran out of the room, and he followed her down the hall?

15. I think there is pretty big difference between chaising
someone down in the hotel room (no witnesses) vs. chasing someone down the hall (possible cameras and witnesses).

18. I don't know what the OP article means when it claims
he chased her down the corridor. Maybe his hotel suit has the corridor, but I envisioned a public hallway.

And, yes, if he is guilty, he should pay as anybody else.

5. My understanding is that the hallway was within his suite.
I don't know where I heard or read that though.

I'll reserve judgment, but if it can be proven that he did it, he should be punished to the full extent of the law. My guess is that even if he did, he'll do his jail time, if there is any, in some villa in the south of France, courtesy of the United States Government.

I mean, hell, if we gotta see OBL with a bullet in the head, I think watching a 62 year old grey haired guy with a hardon running down a hallway
is fair play.

One question. Why is it gonna be "hard" for France to get past this?

Don't get me wrong, I posted first about the charge.

14. Was wondering about that
But this is violence and assault, so if he is guilty, maybe the French would hold it against him.

Just remembering the views of Clinton's problems - but this is different, involving criminal assault.

11. It was reported earlier he came out of the b-room naked and pushed her onto the bed.
Where he then forced her to preform oral sex before she could escape. Often, with our media being what it is today, the initial reports are not correct, though.

In the end this one will be easy to prove or disprove. As you said, there should be cameras in the hallway. Which, if he's on them chasing her, will no doubt be very detrimental to his validity.

The incident began Saturday afternoon, police said.

"A 32-year-old chambermaid at a Sofitel on 44th Street said that at about 1 p.m., she entered Mr. Strauss-Kahn's room to clean when he came out of the bathroom naked, pushed her onto the bed and assaulted her," Browne said. The maid told police that before she could escape, Strauss-Kahn forced her to perform oral sex, Browne said.

She immediately told her supervisor, but before investigators could get to Strauss-Kahn's room he had left the hotel, leaving behind his cellphone and other personal items, Browne said.

The maid was treated for minor injuries at a Manhattan hospital. A police source said she had picked him out of a lineup.

13. There are at least two different suite configuations at the Sofitel

I think the picture some folks have in their head is of a Motel 6 type of arrangement.

20. The story is not specific to "a corridor"

It could be a corridor in the suite, or it could be a public hallway.

Is there some reason to believe it was one or the other?

28. Yeah, a Sofitel is definitely not a motel type of arrangement.
And I rather doubt that there are cameras in the corridors; these are luxury squared hotels.

Either the guy is absolutely stupid, or this is pure BS. I cannot decide, and, as a French person, I'd like to know more. Is it another Gore story or is it real?

29. But this isn't the first time he's been called out for being what one person said was "a rutting
chimpanzee." So we have a pattern, here. Couple that with a LOT of power and money and you've got a classic example of swaggering, rapacious sexual assault. He thinks he can do anything, obviously. He's not like the rest of us slobs who have to live by the rules. He makes his own rules.

I've seen this play out before. It's an old story of men doing what they damn well please because they have money and power and no restraining morality.
