Public employees who are Republican

Why?
I work with some and cannot figure them out.

Why vote for a party that is hellbent on privatizing and thus ruining your public service career?
Why vote for a party that is out to strip you of all rights to collective bargain and negotiate a contract?

Why anyone in the working-class votes Republican is one thing...why any public employee votes that way is a whole other level of ignorant.

1. I ask myself that all of the time
and the best that I can come up with is that the propaganda is so FIERCE that people that watch Faux and "think" they know what is going on--are actually "low-information" voters...yet they don't consider themselves as such.

2. very well put

My coworkers who claim to be "conservative" do listen to the AM radio talkshows and FAUX Noise almost exclusively.
One guy told me he hates what they say about public employees yet agrees with "everything else" they say.

Wow...just wow.

5. the president of the largest public union where i live..
is a republican. he told my wife that he separates his personal politics and what is best for his membership.

my wife is the secretary- treasure of her local public union and the president is a teabagger that can`t separate the two.

8. My family is FULL of them.
They moan and groan constantly about the evils of big gummint, and yet they line up at the trough every payday.

I do not get it, either.

11. It pisses me off when people who hate goverment have government jobs
Why do they apply for them? Why do they get them? It makes no sense at all. I like government and believe it can do a lot of good. I wish I could get a government job. I've always wanted to work for the government, but being in my fifties now I doubt that I ever will. And these assholes who hate government and do whatever they can (by their votes, for example) to curtail government so it can't help anyone else--are getting great benefits, good pay, etc. when they don't deserve it!

14. I have a cousin who recently retired at age 50 from the
Princeton, NJ, police department. He has a generous pension which will allow him to continue to live a very comfortable life. He is a die-hard Republican. Go figure.
