What to do? What to do?

The Senate haggles over the "dog and pony show", as Sen Orrin Hatch referred to it. The five largest oil companies only made $35 billion in profit in the first quarter. They need their tax breaks to create more jobs and to make our country more energy independent. What is wrong with people? Why do they keep picking on our struggling little oil companies?

Instead of attacking Big Oil, shouldn't we be attacking the old folks that are on Medicare? Can't we squeeze just a little more out of them? Shouldn't we be attacking those sick folks on Medicaid instead of picking on businesses that create jobs and make this country great?

Luckily, the Senate has not gone completely insane. They haven't asked that the oil companies pay more in taxes - only that they give up their welfare...er...I mean their tax subsidies. What a cruel world we have become.

1. Even so, oil companies paid more in taxes than General Electric.

4. Wouldn't a "true conservative"
WANT to cut wasteful and unnecessary spending by the government? Medicare is a true entitlement, its recipients paid into it and are entitled to it. Tax subsidies are one of those "evil social programs" that the Teabaggers are always railing against.

To be clear, I'm not advocating for the elimination of subsidies and programs that help those in need, but the oil companies are clearly doing find without taxpayer assistance.
