Report from Madison May 14, 2011.... Warning: Pics
Despite cool, windy and damp weather, tens of thousands of People turned out in Madison today to protest the "governance" of Scott Walker and his cronies. Based on my very unscientific measurements, I'm estimating 30,000, and they stayed! Here's some pics. As usual, there were way too many good signs to post all the pics. Enjoy.

And thanks to the DU members who were there today!!!

The "Great Communicator" was there, with a message that resonated well with the protesters.

Guess what the UW Stevens Point faculty thinks of Scott Walker.

This woman has an interesting question...

Mystery Protester...

And the favorite of many: The Raging Grannies

3. I hope for many GOP recalls and roll backs of GOP policy in Wisconsin,
the Lake States, and the USA,

I will watch with optimism because of the activism.

4. As I was driving through Washington and Waukesha Counties yesterday,
I had the same thought about the wealthy who don't want to pay taxes. How much do these people need?

5. Wonderful! Wisconsin is leading the way
I'm with you in spirit - here in AZ.

Is that John Nichols in the 4th photo (at bottom)? It kind of looks like him (eyes, glasses)...

Many thanks for the report and photos!

12. I don't think this is him - though he was there!
When I saw him he he was bare-headed (well, except for his famous hair :)

10. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this will blow over...
when HELL FREEZES OVER!

Thanks for the pics. I was feeling pretty guilty I was not there this time. I'm hoping for a 'school's out' action in June.

11. Hey there, Scuba! You and I were tracing each other's paths
Great pics! I was hanging around in the same area from which you took the crowd shot, and have photos of many of the same people you do! What a very satisfying protest. I hated to leave!

Here are a few more pics...

Jeremy, pre-arrest!

17. Seeing how small Jeremy's Segway is, I'm surprised that the police at the recount refused to let him
in! I forgot the name of the county, but there was a video of the police detaining him & insisting he take a wheelchair, which, comparing it to the Segway, was much bulkier. This "homeland security" attitude where common sense is cast aside & everyone is considered "suspect" is past the point of ridiculous. Jeremy's attorney was there with him to vouch for him & the officers didn't seem to know how to proceed without a script.

So Jeremy got arrested at yesterday's rally?!

16. Wow, this should be at the top of the rec list. This is where the fight
for America is! I am awed by their commitment and endurance.

I love the signs!

Awesome photos, thank you for letting us know the fight goes on because we would never know if we were depending on the media!

:kick: to the top of the list!
