are those jobs going to be union based? Is the UAW involved?

2. I Don't Know - That's Why I'm Asking The Question......
I was just sitting here thinking that it was great that GM was doing all this hiring - then I pondered - are they replacing formerly union jobs with non-union workers - as a money saving plan.

You know - we hear all the time that Union workers are fired just to fill those positions with non-union employees with lower wages.

I just was wondering if this was going on at GM.

... fill the ranks. The new hires will all be tier 2 (lower paid, ~$14./hr). All of the non-management positions will be union.

I can't see the union letting them remove union workers/jobs as they'd just push retirement on them to get the cheaper new hires w/o a union if that was an option.
