School board candidate loses election because she didn't vote for herself
from Michigan Live:

BURTON, Michigan — One vote was all Burton resident Lisa Osborn needed to win a seat on the Bentley Board of Education.

She didn’t get any, not even one from herself.

“I’ve never seen that happen before where a valid write-in candidate didn’t get a single vote,” said Doreen Fulcher, Genesee County elections supervisor for the last six years.

Osborn said she was at her son’s baseball game at Flint Southwestern Academy and didn’t vote on May 3.

So, she couldn't find time in the day to vote, and neither could her husband. Sort of makes you wonder where she'd find the time to attend Board meetings and, um, vote on things.....

(nb - I have voted in every election I was eligible for since I turned 18)

1. I thought she had voted for someone else, but in reality she didn't vote at all.
She deserved to lose, if she didn't vote.

2. It's odd because local elections actually have a chance of coming down to a single vote
It's a small one, but it's not so small that it hasn't been observed at least a few times. Presidential elections on the other hand, have a much much smaller chance of coming down to a single vote. And it has never been observed that one has. But more people vote in presidential elections.
