Bin Laden death photos to be viewed by some Congress members
From the Denver Post:

Bin Laden death photos

Seems reasonable to me.

Those who want to look can, those who don't won't.

A good way to satisfy the curious and the doubters without inflaming muslims everywhere (since they can only look at the photos, not release them.)

1. I don't buy the inflaming Muslims meme.
He has a tiny fraction of supporters in the Muslim world. Only a few hundred in Pakistan even marched after he was killed. There would not be a significant number 'inflamed' with the release of the photos. More inflaming is the number of civilians we kill in Afghanistan and Pakistan on a routine basis.

2. I disagree...It is better not release the photos because...
It would be seen by some in the Muslim world as disrespectful. Even if it is only a fraction that is enough. There is no reason at all to release the photos.

3. The reason would be to move on to more important issues.
It has been such a distraction from the real debate we need to be having about the operation and what it means for the future. It would also shut up the honest skeptics.

5. Considering that Al Qaeda has admitted that he is dead, I am not sure what proof we need.
I firmly believe that the dispiriting fact that he is dead is much more damaging than any temporary martyrdom effect that they get out of it is helpful. It had been a badge of pride for Al-Qaeda that their leader had escaped the wrath of the U.S. for this long, proof that the U.S. was a paper tiger. I scarcely think that they would readily admit his death.

4. The photos aren't going to be released.
All they're allowed to do is look at the photos, nothing else.

It's like you asking me to see something. I pull it out of my pocket, you look at it, and I put it back in my pocket. Only we two have seen it. Nothing wrong with that, IMO.

10. That's right. It's bs.
The photos will be leaked. In the meanwhile, we'll be treated to the spectacle of people agreeing with their government that censorship is fine if you use a spurious national security excuse. Cool.

6. Lieberman should only be allowed to viewed the photos
while being water-boarded.
