3. It'll stop soon - the efforts to discredit Obama aren't getting any traction
In spite of all the media efforts to minimize the role of President Obama in the raid that killed bin Laden, I think the public has a more than positive opinion of how he handled the situation.

When they figure out that their propaganda isn't having the desired effect we will stop hearing about Osama bin Laden, and we'll be back to listening to John Boner and Cantor telling us why the President is a socialist.

Or some such bullshit.

5. You should ask the people who continue posting as if what Obama did was somehow illegal/wrong/etc
it's really up to them. If they want to post their opinion, they should expect an opposing opinion in response.

9. +100
They'll give up soon. They are currently searching for a new Outrage to scream about. When they find it, DU won't be talking much about OBL, except to laugh in the faces of the right wing crazies.

6. Of course it won't be.
It's May 2011 and the election isn't until November 2012.

Absent something else extraordinary, it will be all about the economy and Obama, not Osama.

It's going to be ugly when the racism hits the fan, much worse than 2008.

7. There's ways to go to Nov. 2012....

I see your point about the bin Laden focus of late. Understandable, though, in very many ways. I think it'll shake out over time.

I'm looking forward to some substantive discussions here and in the various media as we get closer to the run to elections. At this point, I don't see any serious threat to a second term for Obama. My focus lately is on local / state races where we have some opportunities to either hold a (D) seat or flip one into our column. Have a feeling it's going to be an interesting election season.

:hi:

8. I'm sure it will figure prominently in the pre-nomination roll call video.

It will rival Pawlenty's "Courage to Serve" extravaganza.

10. If Congress enacted a law guaranteeing a new war every four years ...
then the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq might seem to be mere details in a steady and routine project of military invasions.

If too much attention is being paid to bin Laden, then perhaps the blame rightfully rests with Congress for its timid refusal to guarantee that the US military will neither cut and run, nor cease and desist, but will create a forever expanding bubble of military success.

This era could be, for military achievement, what 1928 was for economic achievement: a permanently high plateau, to be followed by high peaks rising above the plateau.
