The lowest form of political life known to humankind
<skip>

After a heavy lobbying effort by industry, Florida is about to rescind a ban on the use of human waste to treat crops. Soon more than 90 companies will be pumping waste from about 100,000 septic tanks on to their fields — an estimated 40 million gallons treated with lime.

Only last year, the last year, the legislature banned the use of such waste under the strong advice of public health experts….

Rep. Bryan Nelson, R-Apopka, insisted that the ban drives up the cost of disposal and constitutes a tax on people with septic tanks.

Stop calling these people Republicans. Stop calling them conservatives. Start calling them what they are: Southern Democrats, the lowest form of political life known to humankind. They took over the Republican party after Richard Nixon left the backdoor open like raccoons invading an attic, declared squatters rights and have been shitting up a storm ever since. Why not? It’s not their party.

2. "...like raccoons invading an attic..."
That one's going into my lexicon of useful phrases. :D

And, on topic, that pumping of marginally treated human waste onto fields sounds like a bad idea; the Health and Safety people obviously think so.

5. That is really bad- I hear that's how they irrigate a lot of crops in China.
I am not a big fan of that, not in this day and age.

6. Another case for single payer
When governments and business collude to make such stupid and dangerous decisions, they are never held responsible for the damage to human health. It is already known this is a dangerous practice. The least that couldbe done is to provide health care for those who become ill or are born with problems as a result of this exposure.

9. OOO-KAY....
:wtf:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the use of human feces as a fertilizer the cause of so many people coming home from their Mexican/South American vacation sick enough to require hospitalization? :puke:

Something about people being less-than-scrupulous about how the resultant produce is prepped...
and the residual e. coli bacteria (and it only takes a litte to cause ya problems) gets into an area of the G.I tract where it has no business being (i.e., the stomach- as opposed to the lower intestine)?

And now the Repukes want to 'spread the love'?

:wow:

Holy farkin' sheeit, what the HELL is wrong with people? :banghead:

10. hmmm
a closed loop means contemplating everything... if human waste is composted correctly it can be used as fertilizer...

the problem I see is that the Republicans will not require the necessary regulation to make sure it is done properly...
