Puppy found floating in lock and chains
http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/local/pinellas/puppy-found-floating-in-lock-and-chains-05062011

ST. PETERSBURG - A 4-month-old puppy is recovering after someone found her floating in a canal with a chain, lock, electric cord and leather collar wrapped around her neck.

Now investigators are working to find who left her there.

"Lotus" is recovering at the Pet Pal Animal Shelter in St. Petersburg. She came in malnourished, dehydrated and suffering from a severe skin infection caused by mites.

Someone saw the the pit bull puppy floating in the canal at 9th Street and 26th Avenue South Wednesday, and pulled her out.

5. Well said.
Now, I hope they find the bastard responsible, and I hope he pays dearly. What a cowardly act!

11. I totally agree. There's way too many of these kind of stories
out lately. Does being cruel to an animal make people feel better about themselves? Just how mean do you have to be to do this to a helpless puppy?

16. its not forgiveable. The begging that puppy did, the pleading
eyes, the cries, all of the stuff puppies do in distress, it is not forgiveable what happened. may they get caught. I could kill people like this and I loathe violence.

12. Says she had mites and skin disease. It's possible that she has a BAD
case of demodectic mange and treatment was too costly for her owners and they weren't bright enough to take her to the pound for humane euthanasia for free. Or maybe St. Pete doesn't offer such a thing, or doesn't have dog rescue groups.

Or maybe the owner was just a dickwad whose toy was broken/imperfect so they threw it away.

14. As much as that incident makes me sick I must recall that my relatives in
Ireland routinely used to bury baby puppies and kittens alive on the farm and maybe still do. They didn't do any spaying or neutering over there. I wonder if this is a common practice on farms?

They would tie up the mother for a day or so so she couldn't go and dig them up.

Horrible!!!!!!!

Well, guess it's all hunky-dory, then.
