When President Obama decided to make public a copy of his actual birth certificate, some people thought it was a mistake for him to do so, that he was needlessly dignifying those on the fringe who doubted he was born in Hawaii.

Looks like the president's political instincts were solid.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that a new poll found that the percentage of those surveyed who believe that Obama was born outside the U.S. dropped to 10 percent from 20 percent after the White House made available a copy of the document.

But the big right wing think tanks and sites will buy up tens of thousands of copies of Corsi's book at a steep discount, then bundle it with other nonsense to their contributors. Since the same money that funds these organizations also funds the press that publishes the book, they're really just shifting money around from one account to the other, then back.

On the bright side, there's probably some benefit for offset printers and UPS delivery guys, so at least some people benefit from their shenanigans.
