Lawrence O'Donnell comes off like a dick
It's a shame, because I almost always agree with him politically, and I'm nooooo fan of Condi. That being said, you have the facts on your side, so let her twist herself into a pretzel instead of shouting her down i.e. hannity.

And WTF with getting *angry* at instead of *laughing* at O. Taitz? Seriously - put a kook on, get a kook response. Get a sense of humour - they provide us with plenty of fodder.

19. I think you and I watched the same interview--not sure what
the originator of this thread watched.

2. That's your opinion.
Not mine.

But lets have another drink anyway! :toast: Have a great night.

4. O'Donnell handled both interviews well. One makes a big mistake to allow
a kook to mouth off unchallenged. If you want to see how kooks go unchallenged, watch Fox News.

6. Lawrence is pulling the same garbage that made me cringe at Olbermann. nt
Put Rachel at 8 and inject some more sanity into the lineup.

7. Sometimes merciless mocking is the best response...
but unfortunately, it can also belie the seriousness of the matter and make the audience downplay the significance of the point being raised. Righteous anger has its place and I think LO uses it effectively.

8. I disagree with your assessment of his demeanor.

I watched the whole Condi interview too and I saw him as calm but firm, determined not to let her filibuster and not let him get in a word. She on the other hand was increasingly unhinged, repeating the right wing Iraq mantra over and over like a robot...he gassed the Kurds, he had reconstituted his weapons, blah blah blah...

Too bad Lawrence didn't catch the whopper she told when she said Canada was part of the coalition that went into Iraq. Canada refused to join in Bush's war and told him so in 2002. I'm Canadian and I like everyone else up here knows, we would have nothing to do with Iraq. Meanwhile, we - like the U.S. - have been fighting in Afghanistan since the original invasion in late 2001.

I never saw L.O.'s interview with Orly Taitz, but I heard he threw her off the show. That indeed was ridiculous, because she is a total nutjob and WTF else would you expect a nutjob to say other than nutjob shit? So on that one, yes, Lawrence, you acted stupidly by flipping out on her and showing her the door.

On edit: Perhaps I should say less about the Taitz interview as I haven't actually seen it. Still, as a rule of thumb...expect fools to say foolish things in interviews. Like Orly.

9. Seriously...not one Canadian showed up in Iraq?
Why do I have it played out differently in my memory? I'm not finger-pointing or calling anyone a liar...I honestly thought America's Hat joined us in that effort.

Kind of impressed they didn't.

Edited on Thu May-05-11 11:38 PM by demwing
He invited her just SO he could toss her.

People will remember the fact that he tossed her long after they would have remembered a clean interview...

On Edit - which is not to say that I didn't enjoy the Orly Gong Show. I did, lots o' fun!

10. Ed and Tweety do the same thing - they cut off the person before they have a chance to answer the
question.

I am so thankful that we have Lawrence and Ed out there getting the progressive message out there, but it does annoy me when they shout over their guests.

I've never seen Rachel do that.

14. Good for him
It does no good to be polite to these assholes.

They aren't concerned with how they talk to or about Democrats.

You may be unhappy about the state of dialogue in our country and I'm not thrilled with it either but this is what it's come to. Being a dick is what gets people's attention.

and think Condi did well getting her points of view across.

18. Nope. He didn't allow her to stay in her bubble. She, Shrub, Cheenee & the rest
are used to authoritarian control, of never being challenged, and never being pinned with hard questions or having their evasions followed up on.

From the start of Campaign 2000 it was decreed that CUTE ignorant baby Shrub MUST NOT be gone after by mean GORE, despite that Shrub was allowed free rein to TAWK TUFF against one and all.

My reaction was totally 180 to the O.P.: I was thinking, her game of being the polite, classy, seductively chaste girl-woman has finally crashed into a brick wall named Lawrence O'DONNELL.
