"3200 Japanese American Citizens Killed in Bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki" ...Is this True?
Edited on Wed May-04-11 04:12 PM by masmdu
Does anybody have any information about this?

Another poster from earlier today made this claim and I have never before heard this.

I've done a fair bit of reading on the subject but never found this claim supported.

If anybody can provide additional information about this I'd appreciate it.

There is a reference to it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki

Under the "Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission" but surely if such a claim is true there would be additional support for and research about the claim.

Thanks

6. I looked up the book and page number, here it is...
http://www.hup.harvard.edu/reso

The Wikipedia source says page 3, which is page 24 because of the introduction.

The books says "...and perhaps 3,200 Japanese American citizens who were stranded in the city after Pearl Harbor."

The author is expressing possible fears when he or she first heard the news of the bombing, and not presenting the number as a fact.

10. There is no reason to doubt the claim. I am sure the author was afraid for the lives
of 3,200 Americans. The author did not claim a single one of them died, at least in that part of the book, only that he or she was concerned about them.

7. When you consider that probably 250,000+ people were killed, then yeah probably.
I could definitely see the number being that high.
